Sink Stops Up

Our kitchen sink continues to stop up (no food has ever gone down sink)...does anyone else have this problem? We checked the lines by putting a tool called a "snake" and it goes to the tank, so we know the line is clear... but when we have the water running in the kitchen it stops up and takes forever to drain. Please help....thanks!

Is the stopper in the other sink closed? This can create a vacuum and cause slow draining. Both sinks should have the stoppers open. Also a possibility is the line from the other sink is plugged? Just some thoughts, others will jump in...

There should be a air-check valve on a riser next to the sink. you problem is exactly what happens when it goes bad. Try removing the air-check and see if you are draining faster.

Here is a picture of the air-check in the bath room lavatory. the kitchen sink is simular, but may be in a cabinet next to the sink.
