Slide out stabilizers/stands

I'm a new 5th wheel owner and new to this forum. We purchased a BC 3650RL with three slide outs. Considering the weight of the slide outs coupled with the weight added when we sit in them, is a slide out stabilizer or jack stand needed to help support the weight? Thanks

HI dwhawkin,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Very few people use the supports,, most do not. The slide is designed to support itself and additional weight. I have never seen anyone use the supports unless the unit is on blocks and at a full time spot where it is never moved.

We fulltime with two kids and use the jacks for stability. Without the jacks the trailer rocked pretty good when the kids were bouncing around in the garage. With the jacks we cannot feel the kids bouncing around and when the washer goes into spin it is a minor back rub instead of a deep tissue massage.

Check your owners manual. Previously, people have posted that the owners manual says no slide jacks may be used. Or call Heartland and ask.

I tried using the slide stabilizers at one point.
Results were minimal, so I discontinued using them. Plus as someone else mentioned many warn against it. If your hydraulic jacks leak or tires lose air and your rig shifts, you stand a slight chance of damaging your slides.

What works better IMHO, is if you don't have a 6 pt Levelup, mount two scissor jacks right in front of the wheels.
After I level the rig, I lower the middle jacks and they really firm up the rig and minimize side to side rocking. A great fix for seventy five bucks. I also have JT's stabilizers. With all that down and locked the rig is very solid. Trace

Thank you for all the input. I think I will do without the additional support for the slide outs.

I have the 6 pt leveling system, but still get rocking, especially in the rear where the couch and chairs are located. I noticed the rear does not have as much support as the rest of the trailer. There is approx 12 - 15 feet from the last support, near the rear tires, to the rear of the 5th wheel without support

I believe it is possible to put JT's Stabilizers on a Levelup System. They are diagonal braces, who's sole pupose is to eliminate the rocking you are talking about. Trace

I just purchased the BC 3650 RL and feel the same rocking in living room area. I have 6 point level but no rear stabilizer jacks. That's where I'm getting my movement from. Will short term fix with port scissors jacks longer term add rear stablizer jacks. Good luck with your 3650 rl

I picked up a couple of 2 ton hydraulic jacks on sale for approx $20. (for both) and use them on the frame just in front of the wheels. Works great and rig is solid.
