Spare wheel

Hi. I found out that I have a slow leak in one of my G614s. Could you tell me if the spare rim, the painted one is to be used as a full time rim or is it just a temporary. Do you know if it is rated for 110# like the chrome ones? Thanks Tom

Yes the spare wheel is rated to carry 110#. Could you use it as a normal wheel....yes. I would put the spare tire/wheel on...take the leaking tire/wheel and have it diagnosed as to the cause. Could be something as easy as a leaking valve stem, small nail, or a crack in the wheel. A new wheel can be replaced and more than likely with the same style. Best I can tell you from here.

Thanks! It looks like the spare is holding air so I will get the one on the aluminum rim fixed and remount it later. Maybe the next place I take it to be tested will have a better dunk tank or something. They didn't have much luck finding the leak today. Tom

Make a spray solution of 1:9 Dawn or any good sudsing soap. Spray it over the tire/wheel and you will find the leak. We use this for cold weather leak checking when the dunk tank in the shop is drained. Cost to much to leave the heat on in the shop now days.
