Stained Glass Entrance Window

A while back I was inquiring about a fellow's window and started to try and find a source. Not wanting to copy his design exactly (Ram), I've come up with our own. Question is, how durable are they on the road. Will they withstand the rigors of travel. I've been on some pretty rough interstates before. Hate to pay for the work just to have the pieces on the floor when we arrive at our destination. Thanks in advance.

There was a guy at the last two national rallys selling them, I think my wife has three and keeps making me change them out for her. They hold up very well, but I don't think he does any custom work. I think his name is Anderson and he sells out of his trailer.

We have one and it has made it across 95 in South Carolina and survived .

A few thousand miles on this window. Still looks good. Even over the notorious PA Turnpike....

TIMG_1516.jpg This window was in a 2008 Big Country for 5 years before transferring it into a 2012 Big Country for 3 years. As for how many miles, many, many, many going from Fl to PA to CO to TX to SC, etc, etc etc. Held up real well. We bought another one similar to this one at the National Rally in VA last year.

Haven't heard of any problems with their durability yet. I guess I'll go ahead and try to get one done. Thanks for the replies and they all look really nice. Thanks again.

I saw several of them at the RV park we were at last week while attending the 2015 Arizona HOC Winter Rally in Quartzsite, AZ . . .

I'll bet that you can get them at just about any RV show!

You might check with some of the hobby stores that sell the glass. They may know of someone that will make your custom window for you. Our daughter made this for us after I laid it out.. It's on it's second Big Horn now. If you go this route, make sure and ask that they use the reinforcement edging (something like that anyway) to give the window good strength.

Here is our window. A friend made it for us. My wife drew out what she wanted and I took pictures of the stripe colors for him to try to duplicate in the glass. If you're interested, PM or email me and I'll put you in touch with him.

We have logged tens of thousands of miles with two different stained glass windows. They have held up well with no problems whatsoever. Trace

Trace gets them from time to time. Many of us in Socal have bought them from him and they work very well traveling. I bet most of them are made in Mexico...at least thats where Trace gets them with lots of different designs.

Re: Stained Glass Entrace Window

I had a top half door stained glass window on an entrance door in my house. The window was broken due to vandalism, and I had a no-deductible glass replacement rider on my house insurance, so I was able to have it replaced. I just looked up "Stained Glass" in a local search, talked to the business owner, and he was able to re-create and replace the broken window, and I sent the bill to the insurance company. It wasn't too complicated a design, though.

I go down and get them from a guy I know in Mexico, who's entire family makes them. Very good quality work.
They do many different designs, as well as custom work. Many of the windows I see being resold here in the states are made by this family. Trace

Re: Stained Glass Entrace Window

What are the dimensions of the glass in the door? Is it 12 X21? Thanks in advance Nope, I measured the inside of the rubber molding and it's 12 X 21 so the glass has to be at least 3/8 bigger. Jut hoping someone new the exact amount so I don't have to pull the frame to measure it. I'm ordering some glass for it.
