Stone Guard

Anyone have ideas what works to prevent stone chips on the front of the 5th wheel. I talked to some people and they say there is not much that really works well.

I have stone chips already. Sure would like to find something.

Bed liner coating might be in the future if I can find someone close by that can match the paint color and spray it on.

Didn't think of that.

I received a pair of these "Rock Tamers" last Christmas. We just finished a 15,000+ mile trip this summer. My 2014 Landmark looks great.

Hope this helps you.

Like what you are telling me. That would be nice as they can be taken off when not towing.

Thank you Rodbuster

Your welcome, and I hope you enjoy them.

Here's a couple of tips for you.
1) You will receive them larger (taller) than what you actually need. Trim them with your unit hooked up and be sure to have your air bags inflated if you should have an air bag system.

2) The flaps are made so you can adjust them left to right depending on if you have a SRW or a DRW tow vehicle. You want the flaps centered on the wheel " BUT, DO NOT " extend them out too far where they will interfere with a sharp left or right turn. This would probably not come into play with normal driving but could certainly cause damage when trying to park your rig on a tight campsite.

3) One more note on trimming the flaps. Don't trim them so close to the ground thinking that it will offer more protection to the RV. If they just barely clear the ground, they are sure to contact the road kicking up debris. I have mine set with about 2 to 2 1/2 inches of clearance to allow for some bounce and/or roll. (I have the air bag system that I keep at 55/60 when traveling).

Where are you in Florida? I am in the Daytona Beach area. You are welcome to stop by and take a look at mine.

Good luck and safe travels.

I mounted mud flaps from Duraflap on front and rear of truck. Does the job keeping mud and stones off truck and trailer. Custom figures can be cut in stainless steel plaque if desired. Mine has Big Horn since we have a Big Horn.

If you can weld, make a set your self, this is what I did. 2" square tubing and 2" angle and about an hour to weld and drill hoes. Cost less than $40.

I'm thinking with the 4x4 being higher off the ground the rock tamer might be better as I can adjust them for height and set back farther. Don't know ,you all have great ideas. Now I need to figure it witch way to go. :)

Thanks everyone!

i would like to find someone that has the f250 that has the rock tamer to see if the exhaust outlet would be to close to the flap and melt.

Rock tamers are on! So far used them one time when I took rv to CW for the warranty fixes it needed. Like how they have very little flap rise at interstate speeds. looks good too. Got a deal on them on sale and had a gift card to us up. So 188 and change. Made well and should last a long time.

Thanks everyone one for their input. Helped a lot.
