Surge Protection - 4200

Hey All, those of you with 4200's, where are you all mounting your surge protectors? I see that most end up getting the Progressive Industries hardwire HW50C, just looking to see where everyone is mounting it.

I installed one of the onboard surge protectors will never do it again, second time out it went bad had no power had to remove it aprox 2 hours due to where I had to install it, I now use the portable units plugged into the pole, I'm sure that my experience isn't the norm but it was a disaster in 90 plus degree weather.
