We're a little different...
We want to haul a truck camper on short trips, and a fiver on long trips. (We spend 6-8 weeks a year "camping".)
Looked at the underbed solutions, didn't like them. So, went with the standard rail from Curt and a fiver hitch. But, now had to build up the floor an inch or so to have a flat surface for truck camper. Plus, needed some protection for the bed. (not paying $700 to do a spray in..... )
Here's the result... pressure treated 1x stringers, (6) and cedar 1-1/4" decking. Light, rot resistant, removable and.....it looks "yachty".....
When the hitch is out there's a drop in piece to fill the hole for the truck camper, and a 4'x8' rubber mat goes over the whole thing.... It's not going anywhere.
Also gives me a little extra height for the TC to get over the tonneau rails......
