Tire Pressure

I am sitting in Gunnison, Co and noticed my OEM tires (Chinese) have started to display sidewall bubbles. I generally run them at max PSI (110). The sticker on the trailer reads 80 psi.

I have a 200 mile run through the mountains to Denver, about 4 hours. I will replace them when I get there.

The question, should I run them at max PSI or as recommended on the sticker?

You have the same rig we do...those are G load tires and should be run at max pressure 110psi. With these rigs the tires are very close to their weight limit of 3750 lbs per tire, requiring the max pressure to hold the load.

I can't believe you got three years out of those tires...mine had bubble at three MONTHS!!!

P.S. Our original sticker on the trailer listed E load tires too, which have a max psi of 80....had the sticker replaced to reflect the correct tires.

Same situation with me. I posted about it, called Heartland Service, but couldn't get them to replace the sticker.

I was hoping that my posting would correct the mistakes on the production line with these stickers, but that doesn't seem to have happened. I thought that these external stickers carried some legal/regualtory agency liability, but I guess that is not Heartland's belief.

Thanks for the input. I may have gotten 3 years out of the tires, but only 4k miles. The rig is even garaged so no exposure to sun when parked.

I will keep the pressure up and keep my toes and fingers crossed I make it to Denver without losing one.

The problem with losing a tire is you will most likely have body damage as well because there is no inner fender to catch the tire debris. I know it happened to us twice. If I were in you shoes I would not chance driving with a bubble on the sidewall. It will blow sooner rather than later. Good luck.

X-2 What Jim Said !! I lost tread off one tire. I just couldn't risk more damage than that one caused so I changed them all, including the spare.

Under the current DOT regulations the dealer is allowed to replace the tire information placard for you. Of course, they were supposed to do that before the first sale if the change had already been made.
