Less than 1k traveled and already a slow leak showing (185/80R13). What is the story on this brand?

Should I change brands now or wait and see.

Slow leak as in defect or slow leak as in puncture? I just had the same thing happen to mine and was cursing the brand until I discovered a puncture on the sidewall most likely caused by me driving it into something... There has been a lot of discussion on the "china bombs", it all depends if you onsider the Towmax to be in that category. From what I have researched, I dont personally consider them to be. Good luck.

I took my Towmax tires off when they were almost new. Made in China was enough for me. I had a hard time selling them on Craigs for less than 1/2 what a new set cost. Seems they don't have a very good reputation around the internet..I had a couple people tell me that when they inquired about them...Don

Do you know for sure it is the tire that is leaking? Tires don't "normally" leak unless there is a puncture. Could be a valve stem or even a small pin hole or crack in the rim.
Just a few things to consider.

My 2011 came with Towmax. Have over 3000 miles and no problems. They run cool to warm and are holding air pressure.

Still running the Towmax tires that came on my 2009 BH. No problems at all. Almost time for new tires though, and I will probably get something better.

We have over 4000km on 14 in. Tow ax with no issues. I was paranoid for the first few months, then read a post from someone with a huge number of miles on his without an issue. Then you will read a post from soDone who had a Goodyear fail and do some major damage to the trailer. I would recommend watching your pressures religiously and run them until you get a better feeling. I would think that a slow leak would either pe a puncture or perhhaps a poor mounting job. Cam

Well I have seen a couple of horror stories and I have seen tow max vouched for and I have friends who have put 20 k miles on them with no problems at all. My Edge had them and I put a little over 5 k miles on it with no problems and my North Trail has them and I just went over 4 k miles on it with no problems. Granted, both these trailers are comparitively light weight and the tires are lower psi ( 50 and 65 ), but they have always maintained the pressure and I personally plan on getting all the miles I can out of them. I faithfully check the pressure and wear patterns (none so far).
