Visual inspection of furnace

Is there an easy way to pull the furnace and inspect it for damage? I had an accident yesterday and damaged the side panel but also some of the floor under the furnace.

Easy is relative.

If you remove the outside cover, you'll probably find 4 long screws, 2 on each side. They go in sideways, 2 to the front, 2 to the rear. You'll also have to disconnect the propane connection (after turning off the tanks). That should allow you to pull the furnace a few inches, at which point the attached ducts will restrict pulling it any further.

Note that there's some risk of inadvertently disconnecting one or more ducts from the plenum, in which case you'll be crawling and reaching into the basement to get them back.

And when re-attaching the gas connection, you need to test for leaks.

Mobile servicer is an alternative.
