What kind of regular or yearly maintainance do trailer springs need or require?

JohnD

Moved on to the next thing...
What would our dealership do to our springs when we take our trailer in for it's yearly checkup?

Is there anything that can be done to or for our springs as routine maintainance?

I don't know what he could do other than inspect them.
Which is what I do before and after every trip.
I have found broken shackle bolts and a broken spring.
Twice.

Peace

A few years ago I found the spring clamps loose on ours when I inspected. The spring clamps are the bands that go around the leaves and help keep them from splaying. I bought new spring clamps and added them to the springs. The old ones were loose and and sliding down to where they were useless by the time I found them. I plan on changing the brakes and wheel bearings so I will inspect the springs very closely.

I'm not aware of any special maintenance requirements other then a good visual inspection for defects, checking bolt torque and some grease if you have wet bolts.
