Why so high door handles?

Saw this TT TH the other day and for the life of me don't understand why the door handles are so high. My snowmobile trailer isn't this way so why on this or all toy haulers?

mine aren't near that high, maybe shoulder high plus a few inch's

The locks are installed wrong. We have the same locks, the handle engages from the top, not the bottom. The locks are on the wrong side of the door.
