Winch installation

So I am finally installing a winch in my barn to help me remove the hitch from the bed of my truck instead of man-handling it. I have always had a table on wheels to put the hitch on and manuver it around in the barn but now it is time for some more help. BTW, I am borrowing this idea from other Heartlanders here on the forum. I decided on a 12v winch with a wireless remote. Because of the 12v I had to get a power converter from Amazon to convert the 120v AC to 12v DC.
The winch was purchased from Harbor Freight. We have a new store in our town now and it is very nice and not too cluttered like some of the others I've been in. The enclosure is something I had laying around the shop and it worked out great. Normally I would have been more particular about the installation but I get tired easily and it is no fun going up and down the 12 foot ladder.

Looks great Mark. I have an AC model from HF mounted on the header above my 2-car garage door.

I think your post is among the first on the new forum platform with so many image attachments. I like how easy one can just arrow through them in the image viewer

Was there any issue attaching them?

No issue attaching them at all. It was very easy to do.

No video. Probably a good thing as there were some curse words here and there.

Mark, have you tried it yet with the power supply?
I used the winch i had in the Cyclone (probably an older version the remote unit you have), mounted in the same location.

I'm using a long battery jumper cable to the truck when I need it. But I have an extra 60 or 80 RV battery converter, I may give it a try later this week.

Yes I've tried it and it worked great lifting the hitch out of the truck. Just so you know I messed up and the converter is only rated for 30 amps and the winch is rated for 50 amps but I never intend to put such on load on it that I would have any problems. I may switch out the converter for a 50 amp at a later time.

Nice job. I use mine for all kinds of projects. One of these days I want to put it on a piveting/swinging pole and I-beam so I can move it around as needed. I lift Quads, dirt bikes, RZRs, tool boxes, Ebikes. I find myself using it all the time.

I have the same one from Northern tool. Used it all the time in our previous house.
Took it down when we moved and put it in storage. 8 months later I pulled it out to use and it doesn't work.
I think it is the 2 big capacitors inside that are bad, but at $35-$50 for the parts it seems like a bit of a gamble.

Mark, I tried my old converter I had laying around (actually kept it handy as a car battery charger).
Works great, no problem lifting the 300 pound hitch out of the truck. Hardley slows down. I think the converter I have is at least a 50 amp as I had it for the Cyclone backup.
