We are planning to come - would love a side trip to Deadwood if possible, we didn't have time to do that the last time we were there.

Outstanding!! Neither Diane or I have been to that part of our country. It has been on our "BUCKET LIST", and the 2012 rally will provide a great focal point.

And thanks to Heartland and Jim for the thoughtful decision to rotate these rallies across our country.

It's a maybe for us. We've been talking about visiting Yellowstone at some point. Gillette would be a good layover before heading there for a few days. Looks like it might be too far for a day trip, though.

The wheels on the truck and camper go round and round. Not sure if we'll be coming in from the North, South, West or East but we'll be there. Registration is still so far away but it's time to start getting mentally prepared to register early, want to ensure we don't miss out on a sure to be awesome rally.

Just curious about when they may start taking reservations for this event. Doesn't look like finding a spot for the Bighorn is going to be a problem. Man, this place is big. But I didn't see any trees in the pics on their web site?

We are really anxious to attend this rally. We now have the new 3500 truck so we are excited to return to that area with the Big Country.

Probably have the registration site open sometime in December.

We'll be in the Box Elder CG. No trees.

Diane and I have been looking forward to the 2012 Gillette Rally ever since the location was announced. We have not visited the Northwest and are planning an extended trip around the Rally. Heartland and Jim B have done a great job in identifying venues for the "away" rallies. So much to do and so little time.

We're still planningg on coming, but we'll have to start a pacific caravan. I might have to skip out the end of the school year too, just to make it in time. Right now though, thinking about this rally trip, the first after Mark retires, is helping me stay focused on recovery for my back. The shortest route to Gillette for us is 1200 miles and across the Rockies, but that's still a lot less than going to the Midwest for a National.Kristy

Gang:
I'm all for supporting the HOG by attending rallies, especially when HOG LISTENS to the membership and responds to the Western US members who feel they usually have to drive so far (and spend so many fuel $$$'s) to the national rallies.
I am committing now to being in Gillette in 2012. Will sign up in January when registration opens.

...Will sign up in January when registration opens.

Unless it opens in December :) I'll do a better job of keeping folks informed of when the registration will be open, as I caught a lot of people by surprise for 2011 by opening registration on December 19th, when I was ready.

For all, I am really pleased with the enthusiasm I am seeing for this event. Gillette itself is not really the draw (IMO). It's what you can combine with this trip, before or after the rally that I feel, makes the location pretty cool.

I'd like to see folks continue to post their itineraries in order to inspire others on what they too may want to consider seeing/doing on the way to or on the way home from this rally.

I hope/plan to spend some time in SD revisting Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Black Hills etc. on our way back home (east).

We've been talking about what we want to see too. Mt. Rushmore is on the list, Yellowstone might be too. one way or the other, we'll be seeing parts of Montana, northern ID and northern WA during the trip. We just have to have my actual school calendar dates to figure out what we can do before the rally and which direction we will go afterward. Until they decide just how many days pay I'm going to get cut next year for budget problems, we don't know where to start planning or how long we can afford to travel. Kristy

We were just through that area a couple of weeks ago (Mt. Rushmore, Crazyhorse). We loved the campground at Game Lodge in Custer State Park. Right in the middle of those two areas. Beautiful campground (pics below). Loved it. But then again, we're from So. California, where everything is brown. We are definitely planning on going back there again when we go to the Gillette Rally. Campground has 50 amp, no water, no sewer, but water and sewer dump station right in the park. We had no problem going three nights with full fill up, right there, just before we set camp. Note: Reservations go on sale, online Jan. 1st, and sell out in a few days. I shouldn't tell you that or you may take my spot. :-)

Woo Hoo! Can't wait for the big National Rally in Gilette next June. Gilette will be part of our northwest journey next year; We have three rigs signed on to the voyage; more welcome. Start after Memorial Day, home by Labor Day.
Can we have the hypnotist back again? I finally got over my torn ribs from all the laughing.

It would be nice to gather at an RV park a few days before the rally and then all go togeather to Gillette.

What about Buffalo Wyo at Deer Park or Indian campgound. I was looking to arrive at Gillette on the June 11th but could adjust it to meet somewhere.

Hi Dave,,,

Thanks for checking on the other camp grounds. If they don't allow early arrivals at the Cam-plex,,,there is going to be a real traffic jam on the 14th. We were planning on arriving on Monday or Tuesday, but that's out now.

You bet. I don't know if the info is correct but figure it's best to get ahead of the curve especially since most of the parks around here will be closing soon.... keep you posted.
