I saw a pickup towing an mpg today, the first time I've seen one on the road. What caught my attention, though, was the small fishing boat being towed by the mpg.
There has been some discussion about how much weight the built-in bumper hitch can take in regard to the intended purpose of carrying bicycles. What about towing a boat? I suspect that the whole thing is an accident waiting to happen. The pickup was an older 1/2 ton, so I'm guessing that already things are questionable as far as GCWR is concerned. I don't know how much tongue weight a small fishing boat would have, but I'm guessing that it would probably be >150 pounds, which I understand is the weight limit on the bumper hitch.
Comments, anyone?
