I wish we could be there but we made plans for the 4th over a year ago. I know everyone will have a good time. Afterward people can come cool off on the OR coast for the OR rally July 11-13. Then we can all head for the WA rally two weeks later. Check out the OR and WA rally threads for details and caravan plans.

Have fun!

Just made our reservations at Marina RV Park in Sparks. People were very helpful on the phone. She states that she thinks the arrangements for this Rally is pay for 3 nights and get the 4th for free. Unfortunately we need to get to work on Monday so only will stay 3 nights. 3 nights = 131.94. Of note, was in Reno/Sparks yesterday buy didn't have the park info with us so was unable to check out the facility. If your in the area keep a lookout for our "lost" money. Internet pics look nice.

Look forward to seeing everyone, it sounds like great fun!

12 Reasons to Attend Western Regional Campout July 4th Weekend at Sparks, Nevada

1. Being a Regional Rally, Heartland is chipping a lot more in than they do for the chapter rallies. See following the points.
2. Heartland is buying attendees a Casino Buffet Dinner.
3. Heartland is buying attendees Casino show tickets.
4. Heartland Owners Group President Jim Beletti and Wife Nancy are flying in from the East Coast for this event. (Heartland pays for this, too)
5. You can meet other Western Heartland Owners
6. You can compare rigs, look at rig custom modifications.
7. You can set your chairs outside and watch the nearby Nugget Casino fireworks from your rig.
8. You can “play” with the “one armed bandits”.
9. Lake Tahoe, the number 1 outdoor recreation venue in the United States, is ˝ hour away.
10. Sparks Marina Park Lake is only a few hundred yards away, with fishing, bike & running trails, and a swim area.
11. The Truckee River, with its bike trail to downtown Reno, is only 1.5 miles away.
12. John always has very “happy” happy hours!

I welcome additions to the list!!!

SOLAR POWER PANEL, CONTROLLER AND WIRING FOR SALE

For all those attending the Sparks Pacific Regional Rally, I have decided to sell the solar battery recharging system I bought and never fully installed in the Bighorn last year. The panel is a residential-type, 3' x 5', aluminum framed, 220 Watt, 28 volt, that I re-enforced with a center tube on the back, but never fully installed on my rig. The panel glass has been covered with cardboard since I got it. I had previously installed the wiring and controller, but will now remove those items for sale. The panel has "Tyco-style" connectors. I paid $200 for that panel ( and drove 160 miles round trip to get it back to Sacramento), the MPPT controller was bought on E-Bay for about $100. I have a manual for that. I will sell the system for $150 at Sparks. You will need panel mounting brackets and hardware, I was planning to use heavy duty angle brackets and rubber expansion anchors. The typical Heartland roof has an upward bow of about 2 inches.
First one to claim it gets it. PM me if you are interested in advance of the rally.

Hi John and Lori,

Hope you are both well and sorry I haven't talked to you for a while. All is going great here but very busy. Sadly we will not be attending the Regional Rally in Sparks again this year but we have decided to leave on Sunday morning for an extended trip to Alaska and back. We hope to meet all at the Jackson Rally, providing we are back by then. It is still our hope to make that one at this time. Hope you all have a great time in Sparks, and just know we will be anxious to see everyone in September.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Does anyone have the best route from Oregon to Sparks? Count 2 for me....and Sadie too!

06-18-2014, 03:48 PM
From Sherwood, I would go south on I-5 to Eugene then take Hwy 58 east to Hwy 97 & south through K Falls. Take Hwy 139 south east to Hwy 299 and turn east to Alturas then Hwy 395 south to Reno. As an alternate you can stay on 139 from K Falls and go through Susanville and pick up the 395 there. I like the Alturas route better to aviod a steep twisty (though short) downgrade into Susanville from the north. Time and distance are not much different.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Does anyone have the best route from Oregon to Sparks? Count 2 for me....and Sadie too!

06-18-2014, 07:25 PM
After the rally, I was planning to go to Susanville via 395; over the Sierras via Hwys 36, 44 and 89 to I-5 at McCloud; overnighting in Yreka on my way to Florence, Oregon in advance of the Oregon rally in Coos Bay. I am open to other routes and travelling along with others.

Reverse this route to get to Sparks, Nevada from Western Oregon. I did most of this route when I left from Redding. Ca. for the Goshen, Indiana rally last June.

Send me a PM if you are interested in caravanning the return trip to Oregon.

It's about time to make my Yreka reservation.

We were in Oregon at Winchester Bay for 12 days, Salem area for 3 days and Seven Feathers RV for total of 12 days and various other areas for total of 35 days. We left Canyonville, Oregon and drove to Susanville via I-5, 89, 44, and 36. Then to Sparks the next day via 36 and 395. Very nice and relaxing drive.

Matt and Teri arrived yesterday and John and Lori arrive today

...While attending the rally at North Bend, Mark Carlson help me install the new RV Lock that we won at the raffle. Mark is real good at it having installed three or four already. It works great. Thank you Jim and Mark.

Happy to hear you got it installed. Do send Cade an email thanking him for the rally donation (cade@rvlock.com).
