View Full Version : Central vac

I looked thru posts and didn't see this. My wife called today while I was at work and said the central vac came on mysteriously by itself and was basically running on and off. She checked the inside hose plug and nothing. She could smell the vac getting hot. When she opened the basement somke came out as if the vac was beginning to burn. She ended up having to remove the end of the vac and the the bag to make it stop. This concerns me because if she had not been there i feel it could have caught fire. By the way, we are living in it full time while we build a new home. 3010RE. Any suggestions on this.

Is it a Eureka Yellow Jacket?

If so, look here. (https://heartlandowners.org/showthread.php/34431-Eureka-Yellow-Jacket-no-shut-off-temporay-fix?highlight=vaccuum+relay)

Mine did that once. Turned out it was a bad switch on the outlet near the floor.

OK checked the CAC today when I got home. Now mind you, we have not used it yet. Good thing the wife was home. The whole back end of the vacation I'd black and there is a hole melted all the way thru the bottom. This is dangerous. Think I'll make a call to heartland and eurica
