View Full Version : Propane Alarm Short Circuit?

2008 Bighorn, just prepping for a trip and while replacing light bulbs in the LR wall lamps found the 15A fuse was blown. Further found my propane alarm was activating by turning the lamp switches of and on, or even removing the light bulbs. This is all while the fuse is blown. Replace the fuse and it blows.......

Very strange......Any thoughts?

Replace the propane detector. Typical life span is 5 - 7 years. I replaced my OEM one this summer when I tested it and it did not react. Look for the same model number and you won't have a problem installing it.

The propane alarm also has a low 12 volt DC alarm. I used to go to the RV storage yard and hear a couple of these alarms going off. Something to do with a short in the lamp circuit wiring may pull down the 12 volts DC enough to trip the propane alarm.
