DO NOT, repeat DO NOT buy simply because someone says a 350 or 3500 or bigger or whatever.......buy what is capable (including modifications) of pulling your rig. A DRW seems to be the wow item.............I pull a 16,000 lb 5er and use a SRW F250 modified and it will outcarry and outpull any...
yes the TAZER really knocks the snot out of you (I also rode that monster) but attaching it to a bad guy is not as easy as you might think. Grab the wrist and turn it, well now you are going to get the volts. Also ever felt the spark plug shock..............wet your pants right...
Forgot to add it will be a 2WD which can pull 1300# more than a 4WD simply because of the drive weight and configuration of a 4WD. Don't foget that most of the posts are about STOCK rigs and there is a concern there; but, begin modifications and you will see a world of difference. Air bags...
After owning three differant desiel configs I must admit (oh I hate this!!!) that the DRW Dodge is going to be my puller (Bighorn 3580RL). It really is the only true desiel (inline) and the milage and power simply can't be beat. I wish I could hook it to an Allison tranny and a Ford...
WOW! I was offered CW5 at my retirement in 1991. My best friend was Mike Novasell (the medal of Honer winner) and I flew with him that day! I received 47 air medals and 6 purple hearts. I was shot down 11 times, some as loach pilot and some as UH1C gun pilot with the 48 th AHC in Laos. I am...
Most advise from "what tow vehicle to use" comes from someone that is a first timer or someone that is so impressed with what they bought it MUST be the best. Actually the average person has no idea what "true deisel" or "torque" or "pulling torque" or most any other term used in pulling means...
Anybody that towes a 16K 5er at 80 MPH is either very new at this or has never seen the outcome of such a rediculous stunt! Blow a tire at 80 and it is all over. You aren't from UTAH are you?
Hasty! I am retired military also. I was in the 1st Aviation Brigade in I Corps Vietnam (282nd alleycats and then the 48th jokers). I spent about 2 1/2 years in Vietnam and 26 years in the military. I retired a CW4P but decided to turn down CW5 and get on with life.
I flew commercial aircraft (jet) for years and the temp thing is VERY important. In the aviation world it is called "peak soak temperature" and all jet engines run 2 minutes at idle to cool the internal parts before fuel is cut off. Temperature moves inwards and heats bearings and internal...
I lived in AK for many many years and worked for the Fish and Game. The term "Sour Dough" meant someone that spent a winter in the INTERIOR (NOT Anchorage) and now it means someone Sour on Alaska and not enough Dough to get out! I gave up on making a living there (but must admit, I lived so...
Rhino liners are great, but the rust starts UNDERNEATH! I have had two trucks with Rhino lining and both have rusted from the bottom! My last one I had done on Both sides and so far no problem.......................................Rhino is ONLY good on the top!!!!
Bob&Patty...............I have put my information in at least 10 times over 2 years and nothing has ever shown up on HOTEL! Is there something I am missing????
I would never put blocks under the landing gear! Drop off is common and if the wheels are not blocked watch out! Bishes RV in Idaho Falls just paid out $12,000.00 on damage to a customer truck because they had it on blocks and when backing hit the pin and the 5er dropped on the bed with full...
Life is not short! It is the longest thing you will ever do! And it's nice to hear "Chief" again, even though many do not know what it means! Thanks!!!!!!!
I have put my home up for HOTEL 7 times and NOTHING! I am not going to do it agian! I guess we simply do not count! To bad, we are in Yellowstone (Idaho) and many would love to have our name. Good by!
A reply that means nothing! How many rounds do you fire a year? That would make it a worthwhile statement. I shoot IPSEC and about 5000 rounds a month and the weapon you speak of would NOT hold up in any sence of the word. Absolutely any gun will hold up with the average 200 rounds a year!
This year will be 45 for us. I married her (my first date in high school) after my return from Vietnam. Never had a better friend and life long companion! Would not trade her for anything on this earth!!!!
Great job! I don't free camp much and really like the extra space that the modification would take. I have two Yamaha 2000s that I ling together when I go places that need it and I put them in the Pickup bed. They weigh nothing and therefore are easy to get out if needed. I like the storage...
airbags are lifts that support weight!! Nothing more. They are NOT shocks and are not there to make the ride better...they are the to carry weight! THAT IS ALL THEY DO.
