    Leaf spring link

Until I get replacement parts I haven’t taken anything apart. So I won’t know if the link bolt/link has oblonged or not. As far as my history, I bought my first 5th wheel trailer (NuWa) in 1980. Let’s just say the build quality of that compared to today is unbelievable. In 7 years I had two...

    Leaf spring link

This was more of an FYI to others. I’m well aware of the parts (been in the auto/truck service business for 40 plus years) but others may not be inspecting their suspension regularly. I’m am going with Morryde’s upgraded parts but unless I figure out the why (the interference between link...

    Leaf spring link

Here is a picture of one of my spring links to the Mor CRE3000. The trailer has approximately 8,000 miles on it now. After seeing and reading the issues others have had I have watching this area extremely cautiously for any signs of potential failure. Obviously the link is worn to the point...

    Project LM 365

I don’t want to seem argumentative but based on your theory then vehicles be it cars, trucks, etc., would have similar issues. But having been around vehicle maintenance for 40+ years the amount of broken springs are very small.

    Slide Topper Recommendations

Jerrod I won’t disagree with you on the OE Carefree that were installed from the factory. I had nothing but issues with mine since it was new. I had the opportunity to take my rig directly to the Carefree factory in Broomfield and had them look them over. The first word out of their mouth was...

    Project LM 365

I don’t doubt that you were told to not run shocks and may have had no problems since eliminating them but that is very confusing. Shocks only purpose are to control the oscillating of the springs. Shocks and shock mounts are and/or never intended to be weight carrying devices. So I my mind...

    Bigger tires = more capacity?

The ability to increase carrying capacity by larger tires along with the correct rims still does not impact the gvrw rating if the tires can carry more then the rear axle rating. If your rear axle rating states 9,000 lbs for example but you install tires/rims that can carry 10,000 your capacity...

    Proper water pressure and regulator

I purchased an adjustable pressure regulator with a gauge from RV Water Filter store on line. I have it adjusted to 60 psi as if it is low 50’s/high 40’s I feel the pressure is to low especially when taking a shower. I haven’t seen any issues at 60 psi and feel it’s a good setting.

Anyone having problems mounting 16" Sailuns to 16" stock wheels

Rims/wheels have a weight rating stamped on them or molded. The wheel should in every instance always be rated higher then the tire being mounted. Also the valve stem installed should meet or exceed the pressure the tire is capable of handling. If the tire tire shop has an issue mounting the...

Need advice on choosing a satellite

After doing some research and reading the input of others I went with a tripod. After selling the S&B the directv tech told me to grab my old dish and home equipment. At first it took awhile to get it locked in, but now I setup my iPad on FaceTime towards the tv, go to the satellite strength...

Furrion Backup vs Observation Camera - difference?

I had the same issue. When I tried adjusting it the first time I thought I was going to break the plastic. But after a month of just seeing that 50 ft, I crawled up there and rotated the camera up one notch. Now I can see behind the rig approx 200+ ft. It’s great for switching lanes now. To...

    Battery charge problem

Make sure the plug to the converter is plugged in. Mine looked like it was in but after pushing on it I could see it was barely hanging in there. As it wasn’t easy to get to you have to really check and not assume.

    Warranty and dealing with Heartland

I also work as a camphost. And you are correct on the personal touch. I’m a big believer in technology but I think in the final analysis (at least my hope) businesses will finally figure out that it isn’t the end all. Telephone systems are the most unfriendly item today, the “not my job”...

    Warranty and dealing with Heartland

i understand your frustration. In getting some of my issues resolved what I found out is Heartland sends the vendor an email. That’s the extent of contact as was my case. If that vendor doesn’t respond back it all goes into a “hold”. Much like you I called the vendor direct and was able to get a...

    Ford 450 vs Ram 3500

Not sure what year your Ford was, but I owned 3 F series since 2009 and never had one issue getting any warranty work completed. The only reason I have a Ram now is strictly based on the price I was able to get it for. They all have their little nuances just like RV’s so one just needs to be...

    Tire pressure

Just remember the term “cold” in tire terms means that the inside temp of the tire closely matches the ambient temperature. In lay men’s term that mean the tire hasn’t been driven prior to checking for approximately 3-4 hours. Even driving down the road a half a mile, depending on speed and/or...

    Tire recommendations

If the tag on the trailer is asking for 65 PSI then that is a LR D tire. You can’t go wrong with Goodyear however the cost will be higher then other brands. Just for transparency I’m a retiree of Goodyear so there is some bias, however if there is a better tire for certain applications I have no...

Third Flat on the same tire

I’m hoping they installed the correct stems. Rubber snap in valve stems are ok for up to 60 PSI, the snap in metal valve stems are ok for up to 90 PSI, and the bolt in metal are required for PSI over 90.

Third Flat on the same tire

Not what shops were replacing your tires but a reputable tire would have recommended changing out the valve stem during tire replacement. If they didn’t, it’s time to find a different dealer. Valve stems/cores are the number one cause of leaks. Followed by an outside influence i.e. nail/screw...

Tire wear - normal or abnormal

Ok, I’ll wade into the pool. First the chart shown is a good starting point HOWEVER when you get to steel belted radial tires it isn’t a slam dunk chart. On belted bias tires yes, but not radial tires. That is why in the tire industry we call it irregular wear patterns. Yes the the first thing...

Personal Security while on the road

First of all I’ll get this out- I’m a huge supporter of the 2nd admendment. I believe those that feel the need to own a gun shouldn’t be restricted. Me, I don’t trust myself and as such have never owned a gun. All that being said, how about finding a RV Park where your comfort level is much...

    Disappointed since we bought it!

Sorry but I have to agree with Silverstone point of view. It seems people have accepted less and less when it comes to producing quality goods. Having been on different product forums it amazes me to read and see how people will justify either poor quality or service. I plunked down hard earned...

    Blowout on Landmark

Cupping generally isn’t an alignment issue. Cupping occurs typically as a result of the tire not staying in constant contact with the ground. Alignment issues are usually when you have a wear pattern that is consistent around the circumference of the tire. Without actually seeing the tires I...

    Replacement Tire Size

Without getting to deep in the weeds let’s just say my responses are more for the “lay man”, not a technical paper. Such the term “fudge factor” reference. Replacement Tire Size

While you bring up some valid points I’m not accepting requiring a 15% increase. Tires have a built in “fudge factor” which will cover the load rating required. Also while the fact of picking a tire that meets or exceeds the required weight is correct, one also needs to ensure the clearance...

    Slides and Weight.....

I believe you are referring to the Oshkosh with a slide in a slide. While I haven’t had ours for long, 7 months, we haven’t had any issues with seals to date. As far as the operation of the slides, we had an issue with a main slide motor out of the gate, which they replaced. Since then we...

Ok after discussing the issue with Heartland it basically came down to I stumped the band. I left it at I would upon my move the next day I would totally shut off all power. I never killed the battery cutoffs. So so after moving today I did just that. Eureka! It is all back to normal. Thanks...

Sailun tires excessive wear on inside and outside of all 4 tires!

Dont worry about a normal increase in pressure or temp. I’ll address the temp first as that’s the easiest. You can comfortably run up 190-200 degrees without an issue. New tires are vulcanized at 350-375 degrees so as long as you don’t hit the vulcanizing temps the tire won’t come apart. The...

Sailun tires excessive wear on inside and outside of all 4 tires!

The reason tire dealers tell you to run the max is basically a CYA. Yes it does not hurt to run max, but that doesn’t mean you will get the best wear or ride. As to the compounding you indicated I’m not too sure Saliun has different compound between the face and the shoulder area. As to the part...

Sailun tires excessive wear on inside and outside of all 4 tires!

Short Straw brings up a valid point, one that I usually state - take your gauge into a “reputable” tire shop and have them check it for you against thier master gauge. If the shop doesn’t have a master gauge my suggestion is to run. The other way to check your gauge is comparing it to at least...

Sailun tires excessive wear on inside and outside of all 4 tires!

First thing to remember is that when you deal with radial tires they cannot be “read” like a bias tire. In yesteryear when you had excessive outside wear you could almost immediately know the tire was under inflated OR OVERLOADED. But radial tires react differently that is why most manufacturers...

    Sailun Blowout

Just my opinion but temperature is a better measurement or impending failure in most cases then air pressure. As pressures decrease the temp will rise as the rolling resistance and tire jounce increases. Both of these will cause the temps to rapidly rise. Depending on the speed it can happen...
