EVENT: Heartland Chapter Rally: TX, Athens - 10/15/2020 to 10/18/2020

    New security camera install!

Actually this is a newer version than what we have, but yes. It comes with a small swivel/tilt mounting bracket which we used an automotive adhesive tape to apply to the side of the rig. The camera is detachable from the mounting bracket for travel. I would not travel with them attached, it’s...

    Strange sound from Splendide Combo

A final follow up to the strange sound. I called Splendide a few weeks ago and got a very helpful gentleman, but I called during my lunch break at work so I wasn’t able to try his suggestion to take the drain plug out of the front and run the spin cycle with it out. Fast forward to this week...

I’m not using a JetPack, I think that is a Verizon nomenclature. We have AT&T service. We have a Netgear Unite Explore. But it does the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2021 Goshen Rally - Personal Health Safety Discussion

Jim, I know you’ll figure it out. I wanted to give you an example of an experience we had recently. We went to the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg. We were required to get tickets in advance, for a scheduled time. We could not arrive until 15 min before. We had to wear masks...

    New security camera install!

Yes the Blink can use a hotspot. We have a router in our rig, but we actually have 3 cameras at another location and they use an at&t hotspot to connect to the internet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New security camera install!

We use Blink cameras, they are battery operated. You do have to have them networked to the internet to view on a smartphone. They are motion activated to record and do have night vision. I take them down for travel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Not cooling very well.

Greg, I feel your pain, it seems we’ve been “fighting” the heat ever since we bought our Big Country. Most of the heat seems to be coming through the windows. We tried adding a high quality ceramic window tint, but that didn’t seem to help significantly. We have made our own screens using...

Re: Internet Service l Check out this website, a lot of great free info but also very knowledgeable and helpful if you join their paid service. I joined for a year when we first went fulltime, learned a lot. Now just follow them via their Facebook group. https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/...

    Lithium plumbing

If Heartland provided a plumbing diagram, but your rig was not built to those specifications, I’d be asking to talk to someone higher up the ladder. I believe Jim Fenner is who you might need to speak to, I’m not sure his exact title but he was over their Service Center at one time, and I...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Clif, we treated the 5 slide roofs with Dicor CoolCoat, since they were needing some maintenance. We don’t have toppers on the slideouts, so we thought this would be a good solution to make them “new” like the roof and hopefully add some additional heat barrier. Each slide had to first be...

Need help understanding AC operation in 2016 Bighorn 3010re

Another piece of advice, if the unit is a 2016, it probably has the “whisper quiet” system, which utilizes vents along one side of the rig for air intake, and the opposite side for air outflow. You should see a black foam filter in each vent on the intake side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do to your camper today?

The first week in June, thanks to a hail storm we received a new sprayed-on FlexArmor roof for the coach. This weekend we decided to also coat our slide-out roofs, since we do not have toppers on them they were looking a little worse for wear. (They did not receive hail damage, as we had pulled...

    Roof Maintenance

Second the Dawn, but make sure you wash the sides of the rig immediately following washing the roof. Dawn gets “stuff” off, and it will run down and can leave a residue on the sides if not washed as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Marc, I don’t think they painted it, it may just be how the shadows are falling in the pic. We didn’t do anything to it, it looked great from you as is! Temps have not been hot enough to tell a huge difference. We do think we feel a difference inside, maybe a few degrees so far, but the...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

My understanding is that we should not get them with this product. Pricing will vary based on location, so go to their website and ask for a quote from the location nearest you. I saw people say they paid $160 a linear foot, but not sure that was this year or this location. The Dallas/FtWorth...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Here are a couple more pics of the FlexArmor application that I took this morning. We opted for a more textured look on the roof, they called it the “FEMA ROOF texture” because it was a technique applied to a bunch of FEMA trailers to make them have a little better traction on them. It’s...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Yes, absolutely! I am not sure how repairs to the decking factors into the cost. When cost was discussed with us, it sounded like decking issues were included, unless it was significant damage that they would then inform insurance about if they needed to adjust the claim. We did discuss...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

The initial estimate from insurance was about $6900, but their labor cost was about $30 per-hour low compared to actual cost of labor in the market and did not include all of the costs - they told me it was not uncommon to have a supplement claim from the shop. So the estimate probably should...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Picked up the coach today with the finished FlexArmor roof. It’s truly amazing! The edge is “painted” to give the appearance of a tan roof. But the main surface of the roof is actually white. See? Roof is actually white. The roof actually wraps over the moulding on the edge of the...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Actually to replace the rubber roof the insurance company estimated 55.9 hours. The spray on roof took basically 16 hours spread over 3 days. Granted these are replacement roofs, not new construction, but they said it takes about 20 minutes to spray the roof, and it’s dry in less than 15...

    Flex Armor (sprayed on) Roof

Great point. However, the ACs will be secured with stainless steel bolts embedded in the roof material, with washers and lock nuts to secure the AC. They are actually easier to remove and replace now than a standard install, and do not affect the roof when replaced. Sent from my iPhone using...
