    Campgrounds Near Scottsdale AZ

Wife will be retiring this October and we are planning a trip to AZ next January to take in the Quartzite show and the Barrett Jackson auction. Our plan is to stay in the Scottsdale area and work from there. Looking at RvParksReviews it seems that most of the parks are large parking lots with...

    Tire Pressure Monitors

I monitor the spare on the trailer just because I had an extra sending unit......Does eliminate crawling under the trailer! Agree with the idea of an air compressor..... I have an air chuck coming off the truck air system and a stand alone ViAir 480c compressor in the truck box that is a 200...

Tow Vehicle for 2105 Landmark Newport? Advice needed

Just my opinion, but, I think that the 5th wheel trailers have out grown pick ups. It seems that they just keep getting longer and heavier. Over the years I have had the opportunity to tow trailers of all sizes and types with various tow vehicle, and the bigger the truck the better. The...

5th Wheel Towing and Drivers License Poll

In Texas I was "legal" with a Class C license with my one ton Dodge and BC, but just barely. When I upgraded to the Sport Chassis of course I was required to obtain the Class A non CDL. In Texas if you have a one ton dually and a BC, Bighorn, Cyclone or Landmark you will im most cases need the...

I am concerned reading all the posts about new HL products have such poor quality control and workmanship. Seems that instead of buying up new lines like Thor, they might be better off addressing issues with the lines currently being produced.

Looking at Diesel Pusher. Tell Me Why Not

My wife will be retiring this October so we will then be on the road a lot more, not full time but we will be taking much longer trips. In anticipation of this, we started looking at our options about a year ago. We really like our BC and it meets all our needs. The problem that we faced was...

    Base Camp Manual

Has anyone seen this basecampmanual and if so what are your thoughts? The fellow that created it is in Germany so I am a bit skeptical. I have played with base camp, but just have not had the time to sit down and really try to use it. Having a good manual that could be read might shorten the...

    safety rear view camera

I have one camera mounted on the headache rack of the FL that I use to help connect to the trailer. How do you plan your trips?

We have been "vacation time" campers for the last 40 years. Due to restrictions of time, I have always planned, well actually over planned, every detail of our trips. I always use everything I can find to plan a trip and of course always make reservations, even for overnight stays! Now that I...

    Waste Gate Valve Lubrication

I have talked to a number of people who use cheap vegetable oil in the tanks to lubricate the valves. Good friend that has a motohome swears by this, and does it twice a year. He empties his tanks and then pours in two cups of oil, after which, he cycles the valves a few times. I have opened...

Keeping the fridge cold during travel without propane or generator

If you really think you need some extra cooling when the frig is off for travel....I guess you could use a couple of the re-freezable "Blue Ice" units. They would not leave the mess that the melted ice would. For normal travel, for us 300 mile and / or 6 hours, the frig maintains a cool enough...

    Tire size and manufacturer

I have looked at the Micelin XPS Rib tires, but I am concerned about the clearance between the tires. The 235/80R16 tires have an overall diameter of 30.8 inches. The XPS Rib is a 235/85 tire and has an overall diameter of 32 inches. So by installing these I would move my tires 2 inches...

    Texas Registration and Inspections

Bret....I agree, that the system is flawed at best! I was told by one RV lot that inspections on RVs had to be done at RV dealers and included brake checks and checks of the propane system for gas leaks. That would be more of an inspection, but in this case it was just another way for the...

    Texas Registration and Inspections

SRT vs DRT vs Gas vs Deisel vs 5er vs Gooseneck for TransCanadian Highway & up to Alaska

    Interesting Article

While in Fredericksburg, TX last couple of weeks, ther was a couple with a 60's era Shasta trailer. They had completely refurbished it and had decorated and equiped it with products from the era. Really nice to see these old RVs being saved from the junk piles and put back into use.
