After having a mishap with our BC "kissing" the sides of our truck bed, we installed a Herrin Hauler Bed . Yesterday after doing some research on license and registration requirements in TX, I thought maybe I should check with my insurance carrier about the recent changes to my truck.
The...
Re: Dissatisfied with Heartland!
On our previous unit we had the awning arms damaged due to wind, fabric was still good and only 1 year old.......Listed it on Craigs list for 75% of the going price from CW and had it sold in 15 minutes and had over 20 contacts interested in purchase. I'm sure...
Re: Odd Drivers License Question
This thread covers a subject that has come up more than once and on more than one forum. Thought I knew that I was "legal", but decided to do a little research today while watching my Grandson.
In the state of Texas the law is that if the combined GVWR of...
Does it matter if users stay logged in ??? I have noticed that the forum shows over 400 users logged in at any given time and wondered if this has an effect on things. I always sign in and out each visit.
Sorry you are having issues, does no good to have a "safety system" that is not working properly.
My TST has preformed without a hitch........Only time I had an issue was when a battery was low, did not show on monitor, and that sensor would drop in and out.....swapped the battery out and...
I was very pleasantly surprised about just how fast and easy my install went...........It took me twice as long to replace the rear shocks! Some "funny" worker put the lower bolts in while the truck was being assembled so that you could not get them out with out removing the rear sway bar and...
Glad I didn't read this before I did mine  I removed the wheels on my truck, it was time to rotate the tires anyway so it just made things much easier. From the time I rolled the jack under the truck to the time it went back into the garage was just over one hour.........Guess I do get...
Re: Aftermarket Uplifters
I mounted 4 double throw switches with LED indicators and air pressure gauge in my '01 Ram in a plastic work box. Work box, switches and LEDs all together probably cost me less than $20. Mounted the box on the floor just to the passenger side of the 4WD selector...
The failure is usually in the lines and/or fittings, not the bags themselves.
On my Air Lift system I am not real concerned with the bags going bad.......but check the lines frequently!
OK.........You are going to have to enlighten me on the correlation between the bed and the hitch capacity? Weight of trailer and hitch capacity is what I have always considered......
You are pretty close with the $5k....... Larry's beds like this are in the $7500 - $8000 range. It was going to cost nearly $8k to have the body shop "rebuild" my box with OEM panels. I was very concerned about how well this would turn out, and they were not real excited about doing it so they...
I do not agree with this statement. Many people are under the false impression that air bag "helper springs" increase the payload of the vehicle.....They absolutely do not. What they are designed to do is to improve the ride and assist with stability.
SharkBite also manufactures the standard PEX fitting that require the crimp ring......If I remember correctly.....that is the line that Home Depot carries.
Re: New Bed Installed
Larry;
I did have a cross bed UWS tool box on my previous bed. Currently my hauler bed has four compartments.....two that are 14" deep X 24" wide X 21.5" high on the front of each side and two that are 14" deep X 15.5" wide X 15.5" high at the rear of each side. I will...
Re: New Bed Installed
There are a lot of variables in pricing......best bet would be to contact Larry at Herrin Welding in Kilgore, TX. He can give you a quote on your truck and what you want in just a few minutes. I will tell you this, the CM bed that I looked at was cheaper.....but not by...
Re: New Bed Installed
The end result is great.......but........Not worth all the "beating up" I did to myself for being so foolish!! The other part that was very hard to deal were the looks on my DW and Grandsons faces when it happened. This was for sure not the best way to go about...
After damaging my pickup box and not being able to find a replacement........decided to have a new bed fabricated. Contacted Larry Herrin at Herrin Haulers in Kilgore, TX and for about the same cost as having the bed repaired, we ended up with a new bed that is much more RV friendly!
I installed a Blue Ox - BedSaver/PinLock that I picked up locally at a great price. Have seen them listed for anywhere from $175 - $250 so they are more expensive than the bolt on pin that others have discussed.........Would have gone with the Butch Services pin had I not found the deal I did.
They are still expensive......Found one that a shop had ordered and the fellow never came for it. They wanted to get rid of it so at $75, new in the box, I couldn't pass it up. I pull my hitch out in two pieces so I don't see it as an issue for removal. With the new bed.....the hitch will be...
I looked at those pins, but found a great deal on a new BedSaver, so I spent the extra $30 and have installed "insurance" that doesn't require me to remember another step.
Back in December I joined the "club" of those that have "modified" their tow vehicles by having their 5th wheel come unhitched!
Backed into the pin box.....arm on Drawtite 16k hitch came out and back in......felt a nice thump letting me know that the kingpin was firmly in the fifth wheel...
Re: BigCountry Bedroom A/C vibrating/noisy and Livingroom A/C very little output
I have wondered the same thing! Our experiences are just like you described!
Don't know about the "Duramax" Trilogy  But.....There was a Dynamax Trilogy 3800 in our campground a couple of days ago. The folks had just picked it up the week before and where on their way to the West coast. Very nice looking rig, and it did have a fiberglass roof.
I was more...
Not supposed to get political...........So to follow my Mother's advice..."nothing good to say about something, say nothing"!
Just my opinion / feeling!
Re: ATF: Road Warrior - bubble level for fifth wheel
I made my own bracket to mount one of the large bubble levels to the pin box cover using the two screws on the top surface.
Finally Mounted PinBox Level
I would whole heartedly agree!!
If you have a Dodge truck with an automatic transmission Dave is the person to talk to about any issues or modifications.....He even talked me out of buying one of his transmissions after I told him what my local tranny mechanic was going to do to mine.......He...
WOW......Did they quote you a price with the chairs? That price is just crazy........I will definitely cross that option off the list and go with furniture slides or the water heater pans ( If they fit! )
Thanks for sharing.....
Don,
Let us know what you find out......I too have a 3250 and plan on changing the spring set up. I know this has probably been discussed before, but are the Dexter springs made of better steel than the Lippert springs?
Randy
I keep meaning to measure the bases of our chairs...........My thought was to buy a couple of the plastic hot water heater pans. Everytime I see these at one of the Big Box stores I make a "mental" note to get measurements to see if they would work. Maybe if I wrote it down I might have a...
I have three air horns on my truck, 2 Hadley Ambassadors and 1 Grover that came off an old fire truck. The horns are powered by a Viair 200 psi compressor and a 5 gallon tank. When I installed the system I included the capability to switch my steering wheel horn "button" to either stock horn...
I've enjoyed reading all the different thoughts on what grill to use.....Considering what I have seen myself and the input from forum members I think we will go with the Weber Q100.
The size of this grill, as pointed out by Ray L., is more than adequate for the two of us....or three when the...
Re: Forum: What has changed??
Great Job!!
Everything seems to be working just great and all the missing "extra" are back.....Thank you for all your hard work!!
Checked our toilet brush this morning......Went right into the trash!
Stopped on the way home and bought an "el cheapo" that is one piece. This evening had my wife read this thread and explained to her just how important it was for the brush to never fall into the tank.......Of course I will...
