    Insurance

If you're talking about my comment, yes, I was referring to our accident back in late-September. At the time, we thought our trailer might be totaled due to frame damage. Turns out it is repairable. So, as a follow-up to the thread, we are almost exactly at six months after the accident and...

What did you do to your camper today?

Re-doing the sound system in the rig. I already had the turntable, purchased in Goshen last year during the rally. This past weekend, I ran across this vintage Sansui 2000X receiver at a nearby thrift store for $5.00. Turns out it is in really good shape for its age (according to the serial...

    Towing with a 2012 F350 SRW showing a 10,000 GVWR

Just making sure. If by compliance you're worried about someone pulling you over, weighing the rig, looking at the sticker and saying you're in violation of the law, I think it is generally accepted that this happens so rarely (if ever) that you'll be safe in that regard. Should you happen to be...

    Towing with a 2012 F350 SRW showing a 10,000 GVWR

We used to own a BC 3690. If you are getting a 1980 lb. pin weight figure from published specs somewhere, you might want to get your entire rig weighed. You might find that, fully loaded for travel, you are much, much over that figure (I think ours was in the 3,400 lb. range).

    Atlanta Campgrounds????

We can second the Stone Mountain campground. Might check ahead for longer-term rates and availability. I seem to remember it being a bit pricey even though it was nearly empty and definitely off-season (around this time of the year).

    I-75 Closure in Tennessee

We got stuck doing the bypass one time, fortunately without a trailer in tow. The news article and other posters here are correct - with everyone using the bypass, it can potentially take two to three hours. I-65 is a good alternative, even if it is about 80 miles west. You could cut across the...

4 bolt vs 10 bolt reese rails for my reese hitch

You're referring to ours, I'm sure. Ours were the top ones shown in your pictures - the "10 bolt" ones. Eight of the ten bolts go through the frame-mounted pieces. The other two are through the metal bed with nothing more than probably a washer or two to spread out the load. For the OP, here's...

    Diesel exhaust fluid

Ford fills it during regular service (purchased the service plan on this truck). In between service intervals, I typically fill it at the bulk DEF pumps at a truck stop.

Anyone upgraded to car audio system?

See if you can pull down one of the front or rear speakers and look at the back. See how many ohms it is. Look at the specs on the proposed new stereo and see what it will drive (usually will state something like minimum 2 ohms or 4 ohms). Based on that information and the fact that two speakers...

I forgot, but yes, the wall sconce on the off-door side was on a separate circuit on ours, as well. We rarely used the sconces, but discovered it one evening quite by accident.

Accident near Ocala, FL on 2/16

From the description of the pin and plate breaking loose, it sounds like it might have had a MorRyde pinbox. It was a factory option on Big Country models (our current BC has one).

What did you do to your camper today?

Several little mods and fixes today, but here are two in particular. First, when we bought our washer/dryer the only color vent they had was white. Considering the alternatives, if in stock, would have been black or chrome, we figured it was a pretty good alternative. We headed over to Lowes to...

    Running lights

If the pickup's lights are on, the trailer's running lights should be on, regardless of whether the truck is on or off.

    Rig length for fulltiming

Since you have the "need a short rig for state parks" side covered with your hybrid, it sounds like you are mainly concerned with size as it regards living in it full time. As a full-timer that has been in a 40', then a 42', then another 40' rig, I can say that it comes down more to two factors...

    Ceiling Modification

We found our matching stain by taking a piece of cabinetry that we removed for a modification and took it to Lowe's or Home Depot (either one) and found the closest matching stain and bought a small can. You could just take in a door for the same effect.

Commentary on Housing and Urban Development rules affecting RVs

I tend to be an article skimmer, but my takeaway was that the RV industry is actually welcoming the clarification, having only being required to place a $0.01 piece of paper on the kitchen counter stating that their initial intention of building an RV is that you will use it as an RV. If that...

    Wyoming Domicile Recommendations

If you don't own or rent any physical property in Wyoming (or most other states), it is my understanding that you can't claim it for residency purposes. To the best of my knowledge, the only three states that allow a mailbox to be your domicile are Texas, South Dakota and Florida. Escapees...

    Dryer Vent

Having just installed a vented w/d combo in our Big Country, I agree with Jim's general instructions (though I didn't tape off inside since I didn't care if it was a little rough). On most Heartland rigs, there is a sticker on the wall that indicates the center point of their suggested location...

    Level-UP

Our off-door side rear jack has popped on both the 3950 and this 3650. I notice it more when it does get cold at night and especially when the jack is extended fairly far like it is on this site (which slopes down on that side). One of these days, I'll try the oil additive and see.

New coach, but all waste tanks read 3/4 full right after dumping?

Try holding down the button for each tank for a while (like 30 seconds) and see if they change. I can't remember if it was our 3950 or this 3650 that would show 2/3 after I emptied tanks, but one of them I was standing there holding the button while I pondered the situation and it actually...

What did you do to your camper today?

We removed the two clothes rods from the right half of our closet. In their place is a pair of 29" tall racks from The Container Store. We assembled the two racks as a single 58" high unit and placed the top on it. The width of the unit is within 1/4" or so of the width of that side of the...

What did you do to your camper today?

After 3 years of saying we'd probably never want a washer/dryer in our rig, we installed a washer/dryer in our rig. We got the Splendide 2100XC (vented model). I put in a drain pan and used pex to run the drain line down the door side raceway to under our dresser where it does a 90 down through...

Washer/Dryer for Bighorn. Combo or Separates?

Re: Washer and Dryer Ditto for the closet in our 3650RL. Probably the same exact closets. Word of warning (because I was measuring everything on the way into our trailer today for a probable purchase tomorrow) - the bedroom doorway doorframe is 23 1/2" wide.

    BH3875FB - IT'S HERE!! Now what????

Sounds like they're desperate to make a monthly sales quota. I agree with Dan and others about letting them wait. Though I wouldn't be against letting them go ahead and get you pre-approved with a loan for which you will sign after the PDI.

    Pictures of 3560 SS

I'm just stating what Joel, the brand manager, told me. Not about the 3560 SS in particular, but all Big Country trailers. I'm sure a change in graphics would entail someone designing them, sending that design to whoever makes the decals, then them actually producing them and shipping them back...

    Pictures of 3560 SS

It is definitely spacious as it looks. Tons of walk-around room, even with the king mattress in that unit. This looks like it will be a popular floorplan. There was a couple making a deal on one yesterday afternoon. They are trading in a Carriage fifth wheel (which are pretty high-end units)...
