Well, after 5 years of owning our 2011 Landmark Grand Canyon it has finally gone to that great big campground in the sky. Two severe hail storms in the Colorado Springs area did alomost $43K damage so our insurance company deemed it a total loss. I hated to see it end this way because we really...
Several of us had this same problem and it turned out to be a severe kink in the line between the flush connection and the black water tank. It's worth looking into.....might be the cause of your problem too.
I left my 2011 Grand Canyon behind for 2 1/2 years in outside storage (1200 miles away). When we picked it up in April it just needed a good cleaning and some minor maintenance but everything worked just fine. The biggest expenditure I had was replacing the battery. From my experience I wouldn't...
I'm going out on a limb here and say hearing your fridge from two sites away is NOT normal. I would try to assess exactly where the noise is coming from and troubleshoot it from there. It sounds like the dealer doesn't want to help find the cause and may only be interested if and/or when it...
If I have seen it once - I’ve seen it a hundred times…..
This is why pull-thru sites were invented. If I can't reserve a pull-thru at a campground I will keep driving till I find one available.....I would rather lose sleep than decipher my wife's attempt at directing me into a back-up site!
I had this same concern when I left my fifth wheel in storage for 2 1/2 years over 1200 miles away. Believe it or not, the hydraulic jack legs looked almost brand new when I picked it up and they received ZERO lubrication. I think the corrosion thing is way over rated. I did have to sand some...
In the past I always parked my RVs on 2x12 boards thinking it would make a difference. However, I recently went to pick up my Landmark that had been stored on a gravel storage lot where it wasn't parked on the boards and the tires looked good as new even after not moving for 30 months. Based on...
After 2 1/2 years we finally made it back to TN to pick up our fifth wheel from the storage lot. Considering it has been sitting outside the entire time without anyone checking on it I was surprised how well it weathered the storm. After a good washing and some basic maintenance it looks almost...
I bought my hitch in July 2015 so I assume it is the version 1 and I assume the dimensions are the same, but not sure. Maybe someone else who knows will chime in with the answer or you can call the factory at (800) 635-6106 and get the facts straight from them.
Yes, when I put my Andersen hitch in the bed of my truck to see if the front & rear pucks would be impacted by the frame base they were not. I didn't take measurements, but the front of the base frame was about 5 inches behind the front pucks and the rear of the base frame was just in front of...
I had to think about it for a few minutes, but now see you are right......the spacing of the pucks (front & rear) in relation to the center gooseneck puck would have to be the same on all RAM trucks regardless of what cab/bed length combo you have. I guess the base frame of my Ultimate Fifth...
What year is your RAM truck? I have a 2013 with the factory gooseneck/fifth wheel system and have the Ultimate Andersen hitch (aluminum but not version 2). I have not used it yet, but a few days ago I placed it in the bed of my truck and centered it over the gooseneck puck and it appeared to...
If I am looking at your photo right that is your slide topper at the bottom of the sidewall crack which runs down from the roof to just above the slide, correct? (the photo is rotated to the left)
We are driving to Middle TN next month to pick up our Landmark Grand Canyon (from storage) and was hoping to take a Southern route back and swing down to Vicksburg, MS for a few days to tour the Civil War Battlefield park. Hopefully all the recent rains haven't flooded everything out so we can...
I have tried quite a few 12-volt air compressors over the past 25+ years and eventually all of them failed/burned up and had me believing there was no other option than using a good 120-volt compressor with a generator when on the road. However, I just couldn't get past the added space & weight...
I think you will find this problem with the recliners installed by Heartland is rather common. I believe it is a design issue more than anything, but I'm not sure there is an easy fix next to replacing them with something of better quality. I've learned to live with it, but will probably upgrade...
http://fifthwheelst.com/commercial-truck-scales-vs-portable-scales-for-weighing-rvs.html This link has some interesting info about the subject of CAT scale accuracy......it's worth a read.
BTW - I haven't seen my fifthwheel in 2 1/2 years. I left it in storage when I moved from TN to CO and didn't have a truck to pull it. I am finally going back to get it (or what's left of it) next month. In keeping with my positive outlook on everything life throws at me, if it has been stolen I...
If a thief wants your rig they will figure out a way to take it no matter what type of security measure you install. The best thing to do is have good insurance and focus on enjoying what life has to offer along your camping adventures.
If fire and/or smoke conditions ever get to a point that prevents you making it to the front door (typically 20' or less distance from furthest point) you probably won't survive anyway. Sure, there is always a chance, but when flames are licking your backside you would be surprised how quick you...
I know you said that you already checked the visible plumbing, but your symptoms are the exact same as what I experienced when we first got our Grand Canyon and it turned out to be a kink in the black tank flush hose just a few feet back before it enters the tank. I had to cut off a large...
x2 what Garypowell said about being willing to walk out and go someplace else. Salesmen need you to be hungry to buy, but if you show them you could care less about making the purchase until you get the deal on your terms then you have the advantage. It took me 2 years to find the right deal...
Now's the time to find out if that pump will cut the mustard! You might want to take a pitcher of water and pour into the drain pan and see if that bad boy does the trick. If not, at least will know and can work out some other plan. BTW- great job and write-up!
The slide toppers on our Landmark extend about 1 inch past the edges of the slides so most of the rain water pours off onto the ground and not on the slide walls. However, depending on the wind it sometimes will pour off on the slide walls and windows.
Have you looked at the backside of your HWH? I would think it has two PEX lines going in/out of it (red&blue) with valves that need to be closed for winterizing and then a line connecting those two with a valve that needs to be opened to bypass the HWH. Maybe yours is different, but I imagine it...
Six years is not bad, but I was hoping they (Suburban) would last longer. I had a 10 gallon Atwood in my last 5er and it managed to last thru 10 years of full time use before it started leaking. Oh well, I will keep my fingers crossed.
Gary, I think you will find 30-35% off MSRP is about average to expect a dealer to come off the price and anything beyond that is a really good deal. I'm sure you will get a lot of input here soon. Good luck!
We always propped our fridge doors open slightly and placed a small bag of coffee grounds in to keep it smelling fresh. I heard if you keep them closed you should put in some old crumpled newspaper to prevent musty smells, but I don't know if there is any benefit to that or not.
