Reasonable question. My wife and I first thought it was an unfamiliar bird chirping. That is until it followed us through three states. I pulled the panel thinking it was a trapped frog. Nope, something "mechanical". Has me stumped.
My Norcold fridge, model 611 is periodically making a chirping or barking sound. Actually sounds like a small dog (no, really). Usually a series of 5 to 7 yips. The sound is coming from the back of the unit, somewhere behind the exterior panel. Any thoughts?
Surprised today. A portion of the 110 power was off in our Sundance. Included were the TV, refrigerator and a few wall recepticals. I checked the breakers and none of them were tripped. Not sure why, but I reset the GFI on the vanity and the power was restored throughout the trailer.
So now I...
Given the costs involved with the electronics in most rigs, you are a lot more patient than I would be. Even if I ended up in a Walmart parking lot, I would be gone.
I have been trying to solve a problem with air in the water system. It was only happening when using the onboard supply. Reading the Heartland user's guide solved it! The problem was a partially open bypass valve. Thank you for this set of great tools!
I'm looking for places where RV's have been taken apart for parts. Like RV junk yards. There use to be one on Interstate 90 in southern Minnesota (Fairmont) but it has gone out of business. It was a great place to find trailer windows or water heaters, etc. Anyone know of any? We travel alot, so...
I am constantly amazed at the quality information and support that are supplied by the people on this forum! I don't know you Mr. Mayer but you just provided an example of a very unusual and appreciated benefit of owning Heartland!
QUOTE=danemayer;394913]Hi Tim,
Sorry you're having problems...
I've been frustrated with the limited number of gauges in my truck. That is until I got Torque obd by Ian Hawkins, a smart phone app on Google play. When paired with a bluetooth adapter, I now have access to all the data my truck's computer is collecting in real time. It is set up to send the...
I believe the lever tells you whether the tank it is pointing at has propane. As RoadJunkie said, as long as both tanks have open valves, the switch over is automatic.
Re: That 'I can tow it with...' link on Heartland's website is bogus . . .
Being the Sundance and Ford are mine, here are some facts: the truck is rated on the Ford towing specs site to be rated at 11,300 lbs and the trailer was weighed on a CAT scale, loaded as we were headed out at 7,643 lbs...
Guess it seems to me that any truck can be overloaded, regardless of its rating. Likewise, I believe that if done with respect to load ratings, it is possible to safely pull (and stop) a small fifth wheel with a half ton truck.
Just passed 26,000 miles with such a rig - 24 foot fifth wheel and...
Frankly, this is the point of the thread. Why are used being sold at nearly new prices? Who does this make sense to? Given the used inventory, what happened to supply and demand?
Did 80 days to, in and back from Alaska last summer. Great trip. We have a short 5er, pulled by a half ton Ecoboost Ford. The dry weight, tongue weight, etc are all within specs. Did all the sites up (including Bannf and Jasper), Top of the World, Kenai etc while there and the Cassier Highway...
Take tools. Plan to fix things. Have fun.
Consider Interstates 80, 90 and 94. By some planning, you could hit a bunch of national parks, monuments, etc. This time of year, sustained high winds are unusual.
JMHO
Okay, recognizing the need to keep 15-20% of the weight on the pin/tongue, it just seems odd to me that folkd are having so much trouble keeping under the payload of their trucks. What am I missing?
I agree that fixing stuff is part of the rv lifestyle. Can't even imagine what the components in my landlocked home would be if I dragged them down the highway. I also agree with ghetto that smaller rigs have fewer problems long-term. Same with the vehicles that tow them.
So I was reading on another forum about a problem someone was having with their truck's cruise control when they are towing. It got me thinking. I don't use cruise when I'm pulling our fifth wheel. Just doesn't feel safe to me.
Do you?
