Slide Awning Rolled Up Onto Slide Out

No hex shaft on this one. The bracket screwed on the side wall has a long “tab” that a slot on the arm engages when slid over it. The tabs were bent when the roll of fabric rotated over the slide flange. These are after pictures.

Slide Awning Rolled Up Onto Slide Out

Greetings all. On my 28brs I had a Dometic slide topper installed on our slide out. On our first trip we noticed a bump and the slide tilted down when viewed from inside, when extending. Looking at it from outside I saw the roller tube had rolled over the slide flange and was now on top of the...

No Sealant Under Slide Out Flange?

I feel your pain. My ‘13 had a leak at the seam between the roof and the front cap within two years from new. I had to get a new roof when the TPO came unglued and separated. Caused a copious leak when we were 1600 miles from home. Makes ya mad, doesn’t it?

No Sealant Under Slide Out Flange?

When I poured water on the outside of the flange it flowed out of the inside of the flange, bypassing the seal altogether.

No Sealant Under Slide Out Flange?

Just to be clear, the flange I’m referring to is the metal frame around the outside of the slide which overlaps the sidewall of the trailer.

No Sealant Under Slide Out Flange?

I have had a slide out leak for some time with water dripping from the front inside corner of the frame. I found that the very thin line of caulk applied to the outside top edge of the lower flange had cracked. I poured water on it and the water immediately ran out of the bottom, inside of the...

    28brs slide out leak

Greetings all. I had maintenance done on my slidout last October by a shop recommended in these forums. They replaced the Eternabond tape on top and did some caulking around windows etc. Now the slide is leaking at the forward interior corner of the frame when the slide is out. Doesn’t seem...

    Eternabond Tape on Slide Failure

Did you heat the tape to remove it? Also, how did you clean where the tape was? There must have been residual glue to remove. Thanks for your help, Ray - - - Updated - - - Thanks. Ripon is about 54 miles away. If it was a bigger job I would consider that. Still might if I can’t repair...

    Eternabond Tape on Slide Failure

Hi all. On my 2013 North Trail 28brs’s slide out roof the sealing tape is coming loose. I suppose the only fix would be to remove and replace it. If so, if you have experience doing this job please post how you did it. The local rv repair shop does not know what Eternabond is! Thanks, Ray

'13 North Trail 28BRS Spring Upgrade - go up 1 rating?

Thanks for that. I looked on their web site and now I remember the problem: My step brackets are only 25.25” apart. The Torklift site lists their steps will fit brackets that are at least 25.5” apart. I emailed them and their response was: ”Thank you for contacting us with your concerns. I...

'13 North Trail 28BRS Spring Upgrade - go up 1 rating?

I have looked at those steps but I don’t think they will work on our trailer because the door only opens 90 degrees due to the awning.

'13 North Trail 28BRS Spring Upgrade - go up 1 rating?

Update: I had the springs replaced with “1750 Lb.” four leaf springs. The shop said the original springs were 3 leaf and were flat (no arch). The new ones definitely have an arch and raised the trailer about 2 inches. I had previously had this same shop flip the axles, so now the trailer is...

'13 North Trail 28BRS Spring Upgrade - go up 1 rating?

Re: 2013 North Trail 28brs Spring Upgrade Thanks. I am planning to do all four even if I don’t upgrade the load rating. I think the upgrade is worth it if there is no significant downside to it.

'13 North Trail 28BRS Spring Upgrade - go up 1 rating?

Hi all. I have a broken leaf in my right rear spring and have scheduled a repair at the local trailer shop. I am wondering if I should have all of the springs upgraded to 5 leaf (2250 lb.) from the original 4 leaf (1750 lb.) springs. The original springs appear almost flat with little, if...

Tread Separations on Maxxis, put on TowStar

Inside of the wheel as in the part on the outside which faces the underside of the trailer? Or on the rim where you would have to remove the tire to see it?

Tread Separations on Maxxis, put on TowStar

Looks like I will put on a set of GY Endurance and use one of the TowStars as a spare. The GYs are load range D and 65 psi, rather than the 50 psi my current C rated tires have. I don’t know what psi my rims will take though because I have not found a mark on them to indicate their pressure...

Tread Separations on Maxxis, put on TowStar

I am going to check on the TowStar tire plant code today and will report back. The GY Endurance seems to be well liked but so are the Maxxis that failed. I know the GY Marathons were disliked by many.

Tread Separations on Maxxis, put on TowStar

On a recent trip I found tread separations on two of my Maxxis tires, on my trailer. Luckily we were in an RV park at the time so no damage. We went to the local Les Schwab store and took what they had, two TowStar tires, to get home. These would not have been my choice for replacements but...

Washing Exterior Without a Water Source

Yeah, the roof is the problem. Lugging water up a ladder to wash and rinse the roof is impractical. I thought of using the onboard tank but I would have to fill it before leaving a campground or haul water to it. Did you add a hose connection to your plumbing system? - - - Updated - - -...

Washing Exterior Without a Water Source

I am unable to wash my trailer at my residence due to not being able to turn around on my street. So either I have to take it somewhere to have it washed or wash it on the storage lot. I have washed it on the lot myself using gallon jugs of water but this is labor intensive to say the least...

    Roof Replacement: Full or Partial?

He didn't give me a reason but I'm thinking that maybe the new glue won't adhere to the old glue. Also, there could be moisture trapped in there. I read somewhere that if the old wood isn't replaced it must be sanded before gluing.

    Roof Replacement: Full or Partial?

On a recent long trip I had a roof leak in the front of my 2013 Heartland North Trail. I had a local tech reseal the front seam where the roof membrane meets the front cap. A few days and 200 miles later it rained and it leaked again. So, the tech applied another layer of Dicor to it. The...

    New sliding shelves in pantry.

Yeah, I saw that. But if they keep them closed, perhaps it's worth it. I don't know that I would warranty a drawer anyway. I'm thinking if I need a latch a standard cabinet latch on the rear of the drawer would work. One of those prong and roller ones. Could shim one side, say the roller...

    New sliding shelves in pantry.

I sent them an email about this. Their response: "We find that the self close ball bearing slides work very well for keeping the shelves closed. New sliding shelves in pantry.

Great job! Do the shelves latch so they don't bang into the pantry door when on the road? We have two sliding shelves in our North Trail but we have to tie the doors to keep them closed.

    TST 507 Monitor Readability

I just installed a TST 507 TPMS and have it working on my travel trailer. I have not towed with it yet. I have driven short distances with the monitor on the dashboard of my truck and on my car's dash. At times when the monitor is in shadow I have difficulty seeing the display. In sunlight I...

Getting Level with an Andersen WDH

Getting Level with an Andersen WDH

Hi all. I have a North Trail 28brs towed by a GMC Sierra 1500 with an Andersen WDH. The hitch has an 8" drop/rise rack. With the rack pointing up and the ball assembly at the lowest position, the trailer is nose high. With the rack pointing down and the ball assembly at the highest position...

Trailer Star or Barker Tongue Jack?

Yeah, my Barker has been great too. That's why I'm thinking of staying with it. It would look kinda funky on the newer trailer though. If I get around to it I think I'll take the housing apart on each one and look for water intrusion. Water in the works would be a big negative. Thanks for...

Trailer Star or Barker Tongue Jack?

Hi all. We are new owners of a 2013 North Trail 28 brs which has a Trailer Star power tongue jack. Our old trailer, which we still own (for now) has a Barker High Power 3000 jack on it. We are undecided if we should keep the Trailer Star or swap it for the Barker. If both were new the Barker...

ATF: North Trail - 28brs Slide Out Creasing the Floor

On my 2013 NT 28brs the linoleum floor gets creased where the edge of the slide rests on it during travel. Is there some sort of an adjustment for the slide to prevent this? I'm concerned that the flooring will wear through. Also, The dinette table appears to be stuck. It does not want to...

    New North Trail 28BRS Owners

Hello! We are new owners but the trailer is a 2013. It is our 6th trailer, having owned an Invader, a Kit, a Wanderer, a Jayco and a Rockwood. We thought we wanted a motorhome but find the comfort of a tow vehicle to be superior when more than two occupants are involved, plus not listening...
