Opinions on 5th wheel hitch storage

I have a bench in the garage which is really close to the height of the truck bed. I just back my truck up to the bench and slide the hitch off onto the bench. Saves the heavy lifting.

    Dometic rm1350 - need help!

I'm not sure why you'd be hurt. I suspect Ray was directing his comments to Kenny because of his recent problem and posts. You haven't posted to this thread since October so it seems reasonable for Ray to just respond to Kenny. Safe travels to everyone.

    A little nervous

I also got advice on my weights on this thread: //heartlandowners.org/showthread.php/16295-F-350-gvwr?highlight= Based on the advice in that thread I moved some items from the front of the trailer to the back which reduced the GVWR. In your case you can do the same to reduce the weight on...

I need tire and airbag suggestions

I agree with this. Love having an onboard compressor, but the airbags haven't done a lot for me on my F-350. If I had to do it again I would still get onboard air for tires, but not bother getting airbags. On the F-350 it doesn't make a difference in my opinion. From the comments of others...

So little money, So many things

Best modification I have made to the truck is the 50 gallon transfer flow. Peace of mind and convenience has been great for me as well as the DW. Have the Trax II monitor so I know exactly (roughly?) how much I have. Don't need a speedbrake, but I would put the auxillary tank ahead of the...

    basement access?

Our sundance has an access panel to get at the water pump, and a valve which I have had to access to de-winterize. Was really simple to access. Just needed a screwdriver, and a flashlight to see inside.

New Ford vs GM test - shootout

Looks like two great trucks. Looks like on power, acceleration, etc they are pretty close so its just a matter of personal preference. Bottom line, don't buy a dodge. :)

    what air compressor?

I put a 12 volt Viair compressor and tank on my truck. I know some others including Jim B run something similar. The benefits are that it is with me all the time, I don't need 110volt, and it has 200 psi (compressor turns on again at 165). It takes a truck tire from 65 to 80 in no time so it...

Thor Industries buys controlling interest in Heartland RVs, LLC

Re: Thor quality and service Just looking for some upsides here since lots of people, including me, have stated the concerns. 1. Thor Industries buys controlling interest in Heartland RVs, LLC

Every decision made by Heartland including this forum, and great customer service, was about making money. I think thats all fine as they should have a good strategy and make money from it. Many of Heartlands decisions we, as consumers, liked so we bought the product. Some people may have also...

To Dually or not to dually that is the question

It sounds like you have enough money that you don't need to operate within a budget or worrying about living within your means. Well done. Success is great. However lots of folks might have to spend within a budget or watch their dollars and may not appreciate the suggestion that they live in...

When they first started putting in slides years ago there probably were sagging issues, but I wouldn't worry about it on these trailers.

Truck & Trailer Weight Report v1.0

This looks great Dave. Only other thing I looked at when weighing my unit was for the individual axle weights on the trailer. Its easier to get the actual axle weights on a 2 than 3 axle trailer I suspect (unless it was a very narrow scale), but on a three axle trailer you could subtract...

    Greystone Tire Inflation Pressure Discussion

I just run them at maximum. All the time spent weighing the axles, checking tire pressure, looking at tables, etc is time spent not having a beer and enjoying camping. Alternatively, I could have a beer when doing all that work, but I'm pretty sure that would result in a safety issue.

    My disappointment in Heartland

So, he received a faulty unit, and didn't have the use of it for 3 months. Got fixed eventually by HL and the dealer, which is a good thing. From the comments above it is clear that lots of people have different opinions on might be or might not be at fault: HL, the dealer, the transporter, and...

    My disappointment in Heartland

    My disappointment in Heartland

Obviously there are no brightline tests on these issues. But if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck. In my view, not having your unit for 3 months after 3 days of ownership has crossed a line of reasonableness, and at a minimum means that the OP's disappointment...

    My disappointment in Heartland

How is a defective trailer not Heartlands fault? Perhaps the length of time to fix is on the dealer. Without knowing all of those facts, some of this is still on Heartland as it was defective on purchase. If there is a problem with Heartland's dealers, then Heartland should (and may be)...

    My disappointment in Heartland

I see your point of view. You take possession for 3 days, return it for 3 months because of an issue that appears to be related to its manufacture, and then are finally able to take possession again. The analogy that others are making to other manufacturers is interesting. If a substantive...

What is the trick to fueling up at a truck stop????????

Having enough truck is important, but a freightliner to tow most heartland products is overkill. Having camped beside someone with a freightliner the obvious downside to anyone within 3 or 4 campsites is the noise they make.

    After Market Fuel Tank

I have an 50 gallon Transfer Flow in the bed of the truck, and its one of the best modifications I have made in terms of our peace of mind. Even the DW thinks it was a good decision (she doesn't always think that way about my decisions). I liked this particular tank because it fit underneath...

DW says I have a screw loose

So she's been finding screws (4) on the floor of the trailer and we haven't been able to figure out where they came from. Tonight I was adjusting the ceiling fan and noticed that one of the two screws on each blade was missing. Mystery solved, and its a good thing she kept the screws! We've...

I put in the 50 gallon Transfer Flow in, and my wife says its the best decision I've made. Looking at the F350

Larry, I replaced the steel fold out floor on my F350 with a plastic bin (it was called a du-ha bin). I bought it on e-bay and it gives me that bit of extra space in the truck. I never had a use for the fold out floor. Some places charge an arm and a leg for the bins, but I got mine for fairly...

    4WD vs 2WD

From the posts above, it seems mainly like a function of where someone lives/travels, and the kinds of circumstances they camp in (grassy sites etc). Personally I need 4x4 as we have snow in the winter, and we sometimes camp in areas where we travel over gravel roads, or are on grass. 4x2...
