Picking up new trailer, what to look for?

We ordered a 390 which should be off the line today and we should be able to pick it up in a few days. We have never owned a fifth wheel or any other trailer and we do not know what to look for when we pick it up. We made quite a few changes to the coach so naturally I will look to see that the changes have been made but what are some of the other things we should look for. Other than paint we ordered most options. (We decided no on paint and put the money into a pole barn to house it) Thanks for any tips of what to look for.

Linc, here is a link that references several Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) checklists http:////heartlandowners.org/mediawi....php?title=PDI. We used a combination of them to do a five hour inspection on our new rig last month. Unfortunately, it was in the rain with temps in the 40's. Good luck with your new unit.

    Hi Linc,

Congratulations on your new 390. Take your time on the walkthrough to make sure you understand the operation of everything. If possible, have someone else videotape the walkthrough so you can review it later. When you're getting so much info all at once, it can be tough to remember the details.

Pay special attention to winterizing/dewinterizing instructions and make sure you know where the valves are located. You'll also want to pay special attention to how to operate the landing gear and hitch/unhitch. Practice it yourself.

If possible stay at the dealer or very close by for a day or two so you can use the trailer and test everything. There'll probably be a few things that will have to be tweaked and it's usually a higher priority for the service people if you're right there.

When you do your walk-through be sure to take notes and as questions. You should walk away from the walk-through with information overload. If you are not familiar with RV systems then you will probably have more questions after the walk-through than before.
