I just purchased a light kit off ebay. Apears to be OK, not installed yet. Total cost $26.00

Update 11/27/16

Mod #103 is done

(Part #1) https://heartlandowners.org/showthread.php/54076-Project-LM-365?p=515796&viewfull=1#post515796

I then had to make a teflon washer out of a plastic cover I found for the tower to privet on

I then assembled it all together and bolted it in.

I had planned on doing both the remote control and the hard wired switch control. The remote unit is a POS after the first one didn't work and the second one only work for a few minutes. So I took it out and will send them both back.

If I did it again version 2.0 I'm not sure I would need to change a thing. Maybe move the upper mount back a tiny bit so it will lift an inch higher. But if I did that then it probably wouldn't go down far enough.
I really think I hit the happy medium where it's at.

My next project on this will be to make the legs fold and unfold easier like the RecTec legs.
It's on my list.

Jerrod can you weld a lifting lug on the smoker/grill?

Dave I'm trying to come up with a solution on that now. A I bolt in the top of the barrel will bend it. I need to bolt it down the side or grab it from underneath.

Nice video. by the way. can you bolt a cross brace from the sides across the top avoiding the hood and then add an adjustable hook.

How about two slings around the barrel, then a pipe through the slings above the barrel with a hook in the center of the pipe.

Awesome Mod! You've also stepped up your game by adding video presentation to your thread. Great job!

I have a plan. More along the lines of Dave's suggestion.
I'll make 2 brackets. And bolt one on each end of the barrel then use a 1/2" or 3/4" square tube with the eye on it. The tube can slide side to side the find that balancing point. Hopefully I can keep everything as close to the top as possible to give me more clearance.
Once I get it all done I'll try to powder coat it the same color as the Traiger if he has that color. If not black always works.

Mod #104
I seen Terry Hershberger 's hitch with the permanently mounted teflon plate I said "I WANT THAT"
He gave me the name of the place to get one.

Teflon plate was from Dhitch 1-800-354-4824

Of course it had to be modified to fit my new B&W hitch.

I cheated and took it to Tap Plastics to let them cut it on there band saw.

Then I clamped it in place and marked the holes.
Removed it and ground the paint off. Reset it clamped it back in place and welded each washer on one at a time. And squirting it with water after each one to keep the plate from melting.

I then taped it all off cut out the holes and painted it with some green paint i had in the cabinet.

Thanks
I got the Teflon plate from
DHITCH
Dhitch 1-800-354-4824
I think there in Indiana.
I also think they have 2 sizes. I believe this is the large one.
Yes once you weld it on its staying on. If you ever have to replace it you could always grind off the welds or drill them out.
