I hated that guessing game. I will get around to painting the levers at some point. A 5 gallon bucket will always hold the answer your question. On our initial road trip I tied a latex glove around the black tank lever.
I labeled them along with the UDC and switch panel. Many switches were not labeled. Also while your at it make sure your breakers are properly labeled. They are usually hand written in pencil and mine were not labeled correctly.
Mine has 3 handles in a row. The outer two are smaller and for the grey tanks. The middle is larger and the black. Just remember big for big smell....GRIN
