12 volt cabin lights out

I have a 2010 Focus FX23. Last week, the two lights in the main part of the cabin and the porch light went out. It's all of the lights connected to the switch inside the door, and also the stove light and fan. All circuit breakers and fuses have been reset and checked. I emailed Heartland, and after a few hours was told to look for a green wire. I'm not that swift, so I don't think I should be tearing out the walls. All other lights (rear bunks, bathroom, master bed) work. Any ideas?

Sounds like a broken wire or maybe a broken connection behind the fuse holder. Someone's going to have to tear into it. Dealer, handy friend, pals at a rally...

This may not be helpful to you if you don't want to tear into it, but Heartland owners have written a really nice 12 VDC Block Diagram (link).

Thanks for the info Jim. I pulled the power inverter and fuse panel all the way off. I found two black wires with a loose wire nut; didn't fix the problem. Found two broken wires on the right side of the fuse panel, including a green/white wire; re-stripped and installed; didn't fix the problem. I checked the block diagram a few days ago. Unfortunately, it didn't point me the way I needed. Since the trailer is in my driveway right now, I have the batteries removed and stored in the garage. Would that make any difference?

Ok, I found the short. It was a yellow/white wire under the microwave. When I repaired the short at a wire nut and turned the power back on, the wire got VERY hot and the insulation has melted. Anyway this is normal?

Not normal and it needs to be resolved before something bad happens.
