We're considering upgrading to a new Bighorn and noted that the bedroom slide is now electric in lieu of hydraulic.

What was the reasoning behind this?

I do not know if this is the reason for the change, but the under bed storage area was greatly increased with the cable system. That area previously contained the hydraulic mechanism and there was not much storage there. Our 2013 3585 has a large slide in the bedroom and the cable system has been flawless if that is a concern.

Also on our 2013 the bedroom goes out farther giving more room. This might not be evident when looking at floor plans.

My point though is maybe the fact that it goes out further might also be a reason for removing the ram.

Also my cable slide has never been a problem in my six months of ownership.

I have 2013 Bighorn 3585 and have had no trouble with the bedroom slide. We found this floor plan and unit to be great!!!!!!!

I believe that weight is also a consideration by mfgrs. in using electric vs. hydraulic slide hardware. Hydraulic hardware being much heavier.

I also agree that it affords more storage.

We have an electric bdrm slide in our 2011 BH3670 and it has worked flawlessly for almost 2 1/2 years of fulltiming. Trace
