2019 - Goshen Rally - Entertainment

I like the idea of outdoor entertainment but weather can be unpredictable, so a DJ that plays all types of music would be great so we can have some line dancing. Yeehaw

Need to include Animals Act on the list of possible entertainment. Also like the suggestions of Casino/Games, Magicians and Comedians.

I like the idea of using the outdoor stage. Music Under The Stars! Carol really like the casino night idea. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.

Is this the same comedian we had at Urbanna, VA IN 2014? He was good.

I liked the magic show we had at the Southeast Region Rally in Myrtle Beach a few years ago also.

I really like the idea of using that one outdoor area that we have our small dinner in. Put the Entertainment in an area where you can form a C around them. Maximize crowd contact. If it rains, just have a plan B. As in move it back into the main building. But put the stage back into the middle. Which once again maximizes crowd contact. The way it was in 17 really only allowed a few to actually watch the Entertainment without having to use a screen, which is really not the same.

I like the comedian idea, you don't have to be close-up to enjoy, or worry about it being "too loud".

I like the casino games idea too.

What about some type of "game show" with members from the audience? I've not ever been to one but have seen folks post about these done at other rallies.

Michael - the stage inside the ECCC building will be returning to the center of the long room. Still not ideal but it's the best for that room. In '17, we put the stage at the west end to allow the stage to be bigger for the bigger bands that played on it. Less than ideal placement for the audience though.

Yes, same comedian. I didn't get any negative feedback on his performance in 2014 and his show is G rated.

Hey Goshen Rally Attendees - we've added another evening of entertainment. Some of you experienced this in 2011. Well... they're back! Piano Wars!

An evening of request music played by two fun people on pianos. An evening of music and fun for those who dig this sort of thing. See post number one of this thread for the poster.

Wow Jim the entertainment sounds great

Thank you Linda. My hope is that some of our regular Goshen attendees will notice that I have not hired any big musical acts. Keeping it a bit simpler for 2019 and perhaps a bit less polarizing. Those who attended Urbanna, VA in 2014 will recognize Nashville-based comedian Rik Roberts. His "clean comedy" is usually bright and fresh and suitable for the whole family. I'm pleased to bring Rik back.

Those who attended Goshen, IN in 2011 will recognize area talent, Dave Caruso, owner of Piano Wars! Dave and his brothers had a band for many years when they were younger. Today, Dave composes and produces music on his own. He also teaches music, vocals and piano to youth and continues to perform as one half of his Dueling Piano show, Piano Wars! I'm excited to have Dave back.

I think I'll possible do a fun "concert in the park" with him one evening where those who are interested can bring their lawn chairs, dogs, drinks and snacks to come out to listen and sing along. I may also have him be a roving entertainer. We shall see how he is used but I'm really excited to have Keifer on board, give the young man a leg up and have some fun. I know some of our attendees will want to take him under their wing as their son while he is there :)[/QUOTE]

we really enjoyed our ‘music under the stars’ during the Pueblo Rally. This sounds like a great addition to the National Rally

Jim,
I'm not sure if you have all your entertainment booked yet, but check out www.waltwise.com. He dresses up and does a variety of acts. He does Elton John, Rascal Flatts, Billy Joel, The 80's , Disco and more. We will be seeing his show July 19 in Medina, Ohio.
