ac comes on with heat

just started, turned on heat last night and ac unit came on also thermostat set high, i was running heat to check it. was surprised when ac unit kicked on too. i ended up turning ac breaker off so i could listen to and make sure heater was running properly. didnt have this problem when we were out in december. any ideas?

One thing that is found to be pretty common is that the thermostat fan function is set to either 'High' or 'Low'.
It must be set on 'Auto'.
So go through the menu on the thermostat and look for the fan setting.
Be sure it is set to 'Auto'.

Thanks, found it on 2nd trip out today. fan was set on hi instead of auto. guess I pushed it once to many last time.

I have to chuckle every time I read a post like this. The same thing happen to me the first time I used the furnace. I think Heartland should put a temporary label on the wall near the thermostat explaining this because this happens quit frequently.
