Advice on slide Bighorn hydraulic adjustment

Hi all. I have never owned a rig with hydraulic slides, and the adjustment process looks easy enough...but I still would like some advice before I start.

Both of my slideouts close top rear first, and the last part to close is the front. Ideally, I would think they should close evenly on the sides and a bit top first .

Is that correct? And if is, where would I start my adjustments to make the front come in sooner? Despite being on warranty, I would much rather not have a dealership d these adjustments.

Thanks....Celt.

Celt,

I'd suggest you approach this very cautiously. There is often one ram for each slide. There is also a cross bar with rack and pinion gears. That cross bar/rack and pinion if operating correctly, should keep the slide box extending and retracting the same on both sides.

Before changing anything, I'd suggest taking a look at how the room sits at various points as it's extended and retracted to try to understand where in the range of motion that the difference front-to-rear originates.

Exactly my thoughts. My initial impression is that the piston side should normally get the adjustment...but want to get more advice here. I have to go in for warranty work on the front ac once back on the mainland, but have been less than impressed with most people that work on my rv...hence the do it myself attitude if it is at all within my capabilities. It can wait, but it seems like uneven closing causes stress on the slideout.

Now...perhaps I am being to picky...is an inch too far out of whack?

This is what is happing to mine. Didn't notice it at PDI. Called dealer and taking it in for adjustment in two weeks. Manual said NOT to make adjustment yourself as warranty could be voided.

I recommend you do a lot of homework before you change anything. Call Lippert and talk to a service guy and see if you can learn the do's and don't s from them. .
Also call a good mobile service guy from another state, (hopefully someone on here will recommend a good guy they've used). If you tell him you are from another state and someone said he was real good, he knows he's not loosing any business by helping you out over the phone. you can lean a lot from those guys.
