After market embedded awning lights

Can you explain how you hard wired to your 12V system? We have a 2013 Big Country. Also the white cord that comes with the Dometic 7-LED light kit, the instuctions are vague on what to do with the excess cord?

What I did was cut the wire on the light strip and soldered in a length of wire to get down into the storage compartment where I soldered the plug that was on the strip onto the length of wire so it could connect to the control box. I soldered on extra wire to the pigtail on the control box and ran it into an empty fuse space in the panel and used a 5 amp fuse. Message me if you need additional pictures or have more questions.
