When I used a Carryout I first put the antenna on the bed for a safe ride. When my wife complained about it being wet or dirty, I made it a bed of a doggie blanket in the underbelly and it rode there for a few years.

used a winegaurd carryout with the rear ladder mount for 7 years on my tt - took down and put on bed for travel- never any issues- only 2 times did I have to use down on tripod mount - and in 2 years with my bighorn never any issues with roof mounted unit not getting signal
