Hi everyone,
We just bought a 2014 Prowler Resort 40 FK and are taking delivery soon. Our Pre-Delivery Inspection is tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips for us on our first PDI? This rig will be placed on a seasonal site here in Minnesota. We have a lake view and the windows up front will be awesome! We are sooo excited!!!

If you can stop today and get the book of all the manuals to take home and read through tonight. Make a list of the 400 questions that will leave you with.

Make sure they show you that EVERYTHING works, even if it takes 3 hours. Best plan is to start at one spot and work around the camper, if you jump around you'll forget things. I'd also make sure I looked over the roof for bubbles or tears and check the under belly as well as you can.

This is your one shot to get this stuff fixed while the dealer really cares about getting it done and without dragging the camper back for them to take weeks to do the work. Or get stuck doing it yourself.

Hi KyleB,

Congratulations on the new Prowler and welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum.

Take your time on the walkthrough and make sure you understand and try out the operation of every switch, every device, every connection. If you can bring someone along to video the walkthrough you'll have a reference you can review to reinforce the instructions.

Try out all the electronics and hook up to water at the dealership so you can check out the water systems.

Since you'll be on a seasonal site in the sometimes frozen north :p, you should understand exactly how to winterize and de-winterize. Make sure you know how to get to the water heater bypass valves, the water pump, and the antifreeze suction hose and valve.

Here's a link to our Wiki page which in turn has links to some PDI lists.

Finally, before taking delivery, make sure both you and the dealer (including the service manager), are on the same page about warranty service. Warranty requires you to bring the trailer to the dealer for warranty work. If you're expecting them to come to you, nail down the arrangement and I'd suggest you have them write it down in case of personnel changes.

We just did ours Saturday....was scheduled for 2 hours......we took 5 hrs!! Take your time and look at everything. Bring a flashlight, note pad and pen. Don't rely on the dealership to do your job for you!! Remember you have not accepted delivery!! Be prepared to walk away if needed.
