Arkansas Parks

Hello All,
We are planning a trip to Arkansas for a few days and wondered if anyone has experience with Ouachita State Park near Little Rock?
Or if there are other areas we should consider.
We are looking for woods with full hook ups (if possible).

Thanks in advance!

Hey Guys,

I only have experience with Lake DeGray which is south of Little Rock. It was beautiful. However, I would be surprised if you could find any full hookups in a state park. DeGray had electric and maybe water (it's been a while). Certainly no sewer.

Good luck,

Pete

Check out Mt. Magazine. It is a little west of Little Rock outside of Paris. They have heavy woods, full hook-ups ( E,W,and S), and 50 amp at two of their sites. Highest point in Arkansas, lots of hiking trails, bicycling, over looks, hang gliding, and a lodge that overlooks the valley. We camp there often in our Landmark, lots of room to get in the sites.

We stayed at Ouachita State Park near Hot Springs, a year ago. Same one? Arkansas State parks are among the nicest we have ever seen. Can't go wrong staying there. Very clean, roomy sites, well managed. Paved patios, we had a view of the lake. Lots of big trees. Almost a perfect setting. There's plenty to do in Hot Springs. We'll go back in a heartbeat....Only drawback, secondary roads in Arkansas can be challenging when towing a trailer. Some tight turns, big hills, narrow roads with little or no shoulders. We stayed at another in the Northeast part of the State. Might be called Rolling Rapids, not sure. Just as nice but hard to get into if you have a larger rig. Prices are good too....Don

Mt. Petit Jean state park is another great one. Great campsites and beautiful vistas. Be sure to do the sunset hike with ranger. Make sure your brakes are working when you depart.

We loved Petit Jean! Great sites, but as alluded to above, the road up the mountain is a little steep with some interesting switchbacks. The climb is well worth it though!
