Yesterday the slide out computer shelf in the entertainment center fell out and down into the space behind the fireplace. How do I remove the fire place to get the shelf out of that space and reinstall it?

That's an easy fix. Remove the trim from around the fireplace. Do this carefully.
Once that is removed, you will see two screws on each side of the fireplace.
Remove those four screws and the fireplace will slide out.
