Atwood Socket Size

What size socket is needed to remove the plug to drain the hot water heater?

I plan on installing an anode rod but CW was out of stock last I was in. Time to just order from Amazon. Assuming would require the same size socket.

I thought Atwood water heaters didn't need anode rods since they are made from aluminum. Or is this an older Atwood that uses them?

Hmmm....A guy in service said we should use it. I guess I will look into it further. Our unit is only 2 months old.

It was a 15/16 and a 5" extension worked perfectly! As always, thanks for your help. I borrowed the suggested sizes from a neighbor. Now that I know, tomorrow I will have my own for the tool kit.

No I just pulled the plastic plug and emptied the water heater then flushed it.
