Austin, TX to Black Hills, South Dakota

Scotty. Hey. Unfortunately, I have to go to Denton, TX first to pick up my daughter from UNT Orientation. I am contemplating taking 281 up instead of I35. I appreciate the advice.

10-4. Depending on your starting point in Austin, it may be longer. When we go to MO, we take 281 to south of Jacksboro, then US 380 east toward Denton to pick up I-35. It's easy for us from Spicewood since 281 is only about 10 mi to the west of us.

We enjoyed Rafter J, we were in the Island area. We enjoyed riding the 1880 train in Hill City, a nice half day of fun. As previously mentioned, the Badlands and Wall Drug are a must see.

I'd recommend 281 as well, have traveled the reverse to go to San Antonio from the Dallas area and it's much less stressful than I-35!!
