Just to clear things up; was there "not enough room for her" meaning your wife or your dog? Me thinks I already know the answer but I wont divulge it here. I don't want to get bit should our paths cross ....

You're doomed, either way, to getting shot or bit, methinks. Maybe both. Never, ever insinuate a woman is large, even if she has her own gravitational field and a zip code for it.

Like many of you I also went to a carpet store and bought some remnant Linoleum and used some liquid nails to glue it to the particle board. The bed is a lot easier for us to change sheets. I could not do with out the king bed and it is hard for either of us to do alone so both of us get the job done.
