My wife and just purchased a new 2016 Heartland Mallard M 27 TT. I'm looking at getting a Blue Ox Sway Pro hitch for it. The trailer has a GVWR 6900 lbs with a hitch weight from the brochure at 475 lbs. I won't get the trailer until the end of March so I can't weigh the trailer.
I'm looking for thoughts on what weight bars I need to order for the hitch?
If I calculate the tongue weight as 15% of GVWR plus 100 lb for the hitch (6900 X 0.15 + 100 = 1135 lbs. I think that means I need to order the 1500 lb bars as Blue Ox does not make a 1200 lb bars.
Am I thinking correctly?
Thanks for your hep.
