Brain Dead Just about lost my Hitch

I did go over every thing on my spring start up list. got out to the lake and was showing my Air ride Hitch to my friend. I noticed two botls missing form the rear bottom of the Hitch. He figured it came that way as there were no marks from being installed (scrapped paint) while looking at the hitch I saw a bolt which was finger lose. I spun it easily, them I checked the other bolts, they were lose as well.

I then torked each one, they were all lose.

Two things:

1. has anyone else had this happen
2. Those bolts are now on my checklist

Cheap lesson this time.

Yikes Don! What brand of air hitch is it? Trailersaver - TS3? Maybe I better check mine.

No marks on the paint? Like the bottom bolts were never there? Puzzling. Trace

Don, are you talking about the pin box ??

When I took the rails out of my truck when I traded it I found one nut (on the bolt) was only finger tight. One other one was slightly loose too. I now have it on my list to check them periodically. I have the Hensley TS3 Trailer Saver hitch. The new truck I have already checked the nuts and bolts on the hitch and on the rails. They are tight.

Yes the pin box on the trailer not the truck, phew, I should be more specific, none of us needs any more work than we have (or worries)

I have a stock pin box and the bottom holes do not have bolts...nor would it make any difference if it did as they would be securing nothing that I can see. Could it be an adjustment hole for repositioning the pin box?

The manual says:
"Inspect the kingpin mounting bolts at least every 2,000 miles. Using a torque wrench, tighten kingpin box bolts to 60-70 ft. lbs."

If you have the ABS Hitch Cover, you'll find this difficult.
