Campgrounds Near Scottsdale AZ

Wife will be retiring this October and we are planning a trip to AZ next January to take in the Quartzite show and the Barrett Jackson auction. Our plan is to stay in the Scottsdale area and work from there. Looking at RvParksReviews it seems that most of the parks are large parking lots with spaces packed together. So far the best option I have seen would be to stay in one of the Maricopa Cty parks, McDowell Mtn. or Usery Mtn.

Any advice on place(s) to stay from any of the AZ members? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you will be going to Quartzsite....how about the Desert Gold RV Resort....this is where we had our last Rally and will have a camp out there in JAN 2016...Nice facilities and only 15 miles from Quartzsite.... Even though I'm an Arizona chapter member, I do not know of any RV parks in Scottsdale. Wish I could help but hopefully one of the other Phoenix area members will chime in. Good luck and I second Garry in inviting you to one of our events.

I am assuming that you already know that Quartzite is several hours from Scottsdale. I did find the following info in a search and I am sure there is more info out there. You are on the right track beginning your search now as January is peak season for winter visitors.

I have heard nothing but good about McDowell Mountain Regional Park. I see it is rated very well on the above link. My cousins stayed there last Fall and said it was excellent. I have another friend from AZ that swears by it. I haven't stayed there personally but I will if the opportunity arises.

McDowell Mountain would be your best one around. Have camped there many times and it is always nice, quiet and very pretty. The camp hosts at both sites are very nice and helpful. Stores are very close at Fountain Hills and lots of nice restaurants also. We would highly recommend this park. Water, electric but no sewer, dump station on site. Easy to pick up satellite TV, very clear and can also pick up Phoenix local stations. Can only stay 14 days at a time, but Usary is close to the next 14 days. Lots to explore around the area also. Hope you enjoy our beautiful Arizona weather.
