Just purchased our Landmark 5th Wheel and ready to hit the road! It's all new to us & didn't have time to get early reservations. As you probably know, state & public parks are booked. We were lucky enough to find an opening at Top Sail in Santa Rosa. It looks like we have to concentrate now on private parks and they are not looking to good. :( Need recommendations please for Weeki Wachi area & Bonita Springs/Ft. Meyer Beach or anything else you can recommend. We are pretty open since we have about 6 weeks to travel. We are happy to be part of this forum and new Heartland RV owners. Yippee!

Welcome Busybee - We have been snowbirding for 10 years and there are good and bad parks everyone like your saying. The closer to the water you are the more expensive the parks and that doesn't mean they are nice places to stay. I recommend the website http://www.campgroundreviews.com/ and the trailer life forum, or irv2.com forum, they have sections that talk to campground recommendations in different states. I will say that campground websites are tough, some pictures are very accurate but some are way off as you will find out. Good luck and enjoy that new FifthWheel.

Henderson State Park in Destin,Fla is a nice park. Water,no sewer, and some sites have 50 amps. $30 a night. Safe travels.

Not sure of your exact destination, but if near Pensacola, try the Pensacola RV Park----family run, small, very clean---easy access---big sites. Also, not sure of your size, but be aware that in most state parks you may not fit.

Sounds like you need an RV Parks and Campground guide. We have stayed at a nice RV park right off of the big Highway at Ft. Meyers before and we stayed at one at Thonotosassa Fl. that was close to everything we wanted to see, Bush Gardens, the state fair, the RV Show, and we made a day trip up to Weeki Wachi. We happened to be leaving Weeki Wachi when a mermaid had a flat tire in the parking lot so I helped her put the temperary spare on and it looked like it was ready to blow so we followed her to her neighborhood to make sure she got home alright. I think this mermaid was just a girl working a part time job and driving a jalopy to get there. Tom
