Change sofa in slide to something more comfortable to sit on.

I have a 2009 Northtrail 21FBS and the seat in the slide is the most uncomfortable thing to sit on. I would like to replace it with anything you can actually sit on for some time. This issue is the slide is raised above the floor and I cannot find any rv furniture that looks like it will work in that space. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On our 2013 unit the couch bonded leather just gave out. Replaced with Rooms to go love seat recliner. I have that same drop off of about 1 1/4 inch.

I have ordered 4 feet with 2 inch threaded "bolts" on them. I will simply drill holes in the front frame of the couch and attach them.....problem will be solved.

If that does not work my fall back will be to increase the size of the platform with a piece of plywood. Since the bottom frame is smaller than the couch it won't be seen.

I prefer the feet idea....but we'll see.

Like Gary we have replaced furniture in both our rigs. My advice is don't limit yourself to just RV furniture. Take your measurements and search many furniture stores. Be adaptive and try individual pieces from sets. We found we could use 6 out of 7 pieces in a pit group that would work for us. Some stores will sell individual pieces from sets. For example, our recliners had flat bar stock for the base and it didn't matter if it hung over the edge a bit.

We replaced the two huge, overstuffed, obnoxiously heavy recliners that weighed about a ton each with lighter "Euro" recliners by Lippert that are extremly comfortable as well as very easy to move. Next to go will be the obnoxiously unconfortable "sofa" that has a back the leans forward. Really, who designs this stuff? It's like sitting on a brick. The only good thing about the sofa is that it folds out into a bed for the grandkids, but they can sleep on the floor - this sofa will deffinitely go.

I just read on this forum where someone at Heartland is always looking at interior design - as a hint, they should also look at interior comfort.

I actually am considering switching out the beautiful but awkward and uncomfortable U-dinette for two small Euro style chairs. My slide on my 22RBK is 7' wide. What would be helpful is to see photographs of others who have done this. Anyone?

We recently changed out the two swivel rocker recliners in our slide for this:

It has turned out to be the most comfortable seating we have had in our last 3 5th wheels. It is easy to install as it comes in sections and easy to get in the door. It has also given us more room for our table & chairs as well as floor space in the living area and is wall away recliners needing only 3" from the wall for clearance.

Thank you for responding, but I titled the thread wrong. I have a short TT with a U-dinette that is uncomfortable. I want to change it to seating, but I require a table. If I put up a table, it will defeat my purpose of the open floor plan of this small trailer. That is why I would like to switch to two small Euro chairs, as I think I would still have room for a table, even if it folds out from the wall. Thanks, that sofa looks really nice.

I'm along for the ride on this one as I have the sam U-style dinette in my M245. It does make into a fairly comfortable bed, though I could see using comfortable recliners for sleeping as well. My wife is also concerned about not having a table.

We bought a 25 LRSS last spring. We travel with just 2 so we know that we would be changing dinnette out soon. I did this yesterday. Power recliners are by Capnapper and the swivel gliders are from Lane. We know we lost a lot of storage but we have more than enough, we only do up to 10 days at a time. (we are minimalist when we are on the road)

Jenobandito this may be more what you had in mind. I considered this in the rear but though it was to tight. This coffee table/dinner combo between to swivel rockers which can convert from coffee table to dinner for 2 then dinner for 5 with the addition of folding chairs.

Imagine it long ways between to chairs (end table) Then raise it up spin table top and swivel the chairs and it is dinner for 2. Fold it out and add folding chairs and dinner for 4 is easy, an addition on the end for 5 makes it a little tight but do able. Hope this suggestion was more what you are after.

Here is a picture of the zero clearance theater seats in our new WA/AZ commuter bumper pull Laredo 225MK(cousin manufacturer). Slide in is 70" wide and I will be making a couple shelves for each side. I sure that Lippert provided these seats. Chris
