Chevy vs Dodge

I have a 3055 and an 08 Dodge 1 ton SRW. I love the combination. I have 4:10 gears and never touch the service brakes on a 6% downgrade. The factory exaust brake works great. The 6 speed auto works great with the ehaust brake in tow/haul mode. I pull 6% upgrades in 4th which is direct (5th and 6th are both overdriven) at 2500 RPM and 55 mph easy as pie. No mods to the truck. Whatever you do , go with a 1 ton. Any 3/4 ton will be overloaded per manufacture. Worst case, something happens and guess what your insurance conpany will say about paying out a claim on an overloaded vehicle? Just my opinion.

NBS = New Body Style is 2007 1/2 GMC products verses the Classic Body Style (CBS) pre 2007 1/2 GMC products.

John, don't ya remember all the troubles I had and posted in an earlier thread ? You were one of the posters who identified my problem and helped me. It was a scenario of my TV being too close to my RV, I'll post a pic to refresh your memory. I am still in the process of correcting this fiasco, you won't believe what I went thru. You my friend have a "standard" Liebert 1621HD pin box with a hitch which gives you plenty of clearance. Anything else is heartburn city because of clearance issues. After I finally get the fiasco straightened out I intend to share with everyone thru the forum the final fix. The entire problem was created when I purchased the optional Trailair pin box. The Trailair pin box has turned out to be the pin box from Hades with the NBS GM TV's ... Tom

Sorry, Tom, my rememberer looses track of stuff sometimes. Killed too many brain cells when I was young and dumb and stationed in Germany (and in the years after). I must have remembered a little of it, though, cuz I measured the clearance to my bed rail and lowered tailgate recently. Bed rail clearance was almost 7" and the lowered gate to the front of the rig was almost 10." I could slide between it and the rig to confirm my white painted hitch jaws were closed.

Jon, The mind is a terrible thing to loose :)... Hopefully I will be able to stand between the TV&RV to check the jaws of life. Also, hopefully I'll be able to use the $200.00 Rock Tamer mud flaps. Hopefully I'll be able to put my tailgate back on... and finally, Hopefully I'll be able to hook up by myself with the tail gate lowered. If not, hopefully I won't go bonkers cause I'm halfway there now ...

Thanks WDK450 but the transmission in the 05 had the cheaper American made trans and could not be adapted for the exhaust brake. :(
